Question about 2000 Suzuki GZ 250 Marauder

I have bought a 1999 gz250 and the choke cable was boken off and would like to know if i can change carb and where to find the parts i need to fix it help please

Well.. you can just buy a new choke cable? if youre having trouble sourcing a choke cable then get a universal one from ebay? and yes you can change the carb, just make sure it has the same fittings ect, and ebay is a haven for bike parts!

its common on that bike that when the choke cable breaks the owners are to cheap to replace the cable and operate it right off the carbs

To change the choke cable, you don't have to disassemble the carb but you may have to take it off the engine. The black plastic piece simply screws into the side of the carb. Once out, you'll have to take the plunger and spring off and put it on your new cable. Then screw the new cable into the hole. Reinstall the the carb on the bike. Always replace the carb seal on the intake where the carb plugs into it. Good Luck

The problems with a plunger style choke happen when the rubber on the bottom becomes deformed and does not seal or the spring does not push the plunger down hard enough, or the cap breaks so the plunger is not pushed down hard enough. If you put your finger over the hole and the bike runs properly your bike is running on choke. You have to block the hole deep inside the carb to shut off the choke. I assume the original problem was that the bike would not idle .If this is the case, take the carb apart remove the slow jet and clean the jet and the carb body out so fuel will flow at idle. This should fix your no idle problem.

Testimonial: "Thanks for the info. The original problem was the bike would idle okay, but stall as soon as gas was applied, I suspected a gas flow problem. I shotgunned a bunch of things including new petcock value filter in tank, taking carb off and cleaning jets, float bowl, and various orifices, replaced intake manifold (thought it could be a vacuum leak from some cracks seen), plus some other things I'm probably forgetting. Each change seemed to fix problem for a while, but it would always return (problem was always intermittent). Recently I noticed just moving the choke cable (without changing choke setting) was causing bike idle to change, then it died hard and would not start again after I fiddled with cable a bit - tried ether, etc. Since it fired right up after taking choke cable off I ordered a new one, still waiting for it, hopefully that'll fix it. I couldn't find anyway to adjust choke cable though manual debug section claims it can mis-adjusted. If this still fails I'll probably take the carb off again and try cleaning again. Been an intermittent thorn in my side for a while now. Thanks for the suggestions!! "

2003 Suzuki Gz250 high idle always. Turned white knob out all the way and it still idles high. Has auto choke. Any ideas?

1. Throttle cables improperly adjusted, pinched or need lubrication.
2. Idle adjusting screw needs to be backed off.
4. Air fuel mixture adjusted too lean start with 2 full turns.
5. Intake system air leak.
6. Fast idle choke ramp is not releasing.
7. Broken throttle return spring.
8. Damaged diaphragm or slide.
9. Faulty MAP, TPS, ATS, O2, sensors or wiring/connector
10. Multi carburetors not in sync.

Where the fuel pump is... and where the choke brake cable is and how to change it out


On a 2.6 engine you have a carb, so the fuel pump is mounted on the side of the engine. You can follow the fuel line from the carb over to it.
I don't know what a choke brake cable is. The carb has an electric choke on the side.

Need to change choke cable on a 2005 yamaha viagra, 250 cc not sure how to do this


Remove the Phillips head screw under your choke lever and retrieve the wave washer and other small parts there. The cable, with a large trunnion swaged here will come away from the lever.
The Carb end is more difficult... You can opt to remove the fuel tank, pump, cable bellcrank bracket (screwed to the top of the carb) for better access. If your fingers are small enough you might try without so nuch removal but your objective is to unscrew a hexagonal connector that holds the cable/spring and choke plunger in the carb.
Pull back the dustboot over the cable and you'll see it.
You should be able to use an open end wrench to loosen it then use fingetips to unscrew it, take care when removing the whole lot from the carb- the spring and choke plunger sit on the end of the cable held only by a small 3mm swage. remove these parts from the cable and pull the cable out through its guides along the frame. Assembly is the reverse. I hope this helps

My bike was sitting for a while before i bought it i wanted to clean up the carbs but cant get them all the way off. i need to know how to remove the throttle and choke lines


Choke cable - The cable nipple attaches to a bracket on the choke shaft, pull on metal end of the cable (where it goes onto the carbs) until the bracket has moved enough to disengage the nipple (hold bracket, release cable & disengage)
Throttle cables - Loosen the cable adjuster at the twist-grip all the way. Next loosen the 4 clamp screws holding the carbs on, disconnect the vacuum hoses, then remove carbs lift them up & disconnect the cable nipples from their holders
Et Voila !
