Question about 2006 Harley Davidson FXDWGI Dyna Wide Glide

1 Answer

When riding and going over bumps in the road, I can hear rattling from the front part of my engine area. It is only happening when going over bumps, at no other time can I hear anything unusual. I am thinking that I have an engine mount that needs to be replaced, but am not sure. I cannot see anything visual that would indicate that this is the problem.

If you think it's an engine mount, unplug one spark plug wire and let the engine run. If the rattle is an engine mount, the resulting rough running engine should give it away. Visually inspect the motor mount for cracks in the rubber and such.

Good luck

My 95 deville rattles a lot when I hit bumps ,,,what could it be

I would start with checking the muffler and pipes to see if they move when u push on them. Make sure car has set for a while so u don't get burned

I have a 1997 Nissan Altima and when it drives I hear a lot of rattling in the front end what can it be

IS it constant? IF it does not vary when you hit rough spots in the road then it could be a dust cover on the engine or exhaust. If it makes the noise when it is not moving it might be something wrong in the engine. If you hit bumps and hear it, it is the suspension.

Its a rattle sound on passenger side mostly when go over a bump

The most common thing on commodores when going over bumps or over pot hole in the road is rattle or knock from front.
you will more than likely need new sway bar link pins and bushes..

I have a 2000 chevy malibu. I recently replaced the front brake pads. After this when driving down the road when i hit bumps something in the frontend rattles, i can hear and feel it.. when i hit or ride...

A loose pad could do it.
Check the pad anti-rattle clips again. The pads should be snug in the calipers. Its possible the new pads are not the exact same shape as the old ones.

Front suspension noise-dull rattle-thumping sound,bumpy roads

look at the front lower engine mount. I had similar noise which has been driving me nuts, thought may be thesway bar links, put it on friends hoist and saw that the front engine mount (mounted to bottom of lower radiator support) was cracked and the rubber bushing inside very worn with pieces missing. odd thing is that reving, or putting into gear never caused it to make a noise, just certain bumps. I ordered part from Autozone, hopefully it gets here before the holiday week end is over.
Good luck

Terrible rear end rattle

It's probably the rear sway bar links. If you can jack your car up and check right behind both rear wheels you will be abale to see the sway bar which is connected to short links about 5in long with ball joints.

If either of them are broken or not connected anymore it can cause some pretty loud noises when you ride on rough roads or hit bumps. They run about $35 per link so it's not a very expensive repair.

Noise in the front end

have your sway bars checked. My front end made an awful ratteling noise and kept getting worse. I put all kinds of parts on it but finally replacing the sway bars fixed the noise
