There should be a number on the face of the Ing. switch. Get that number then the serial number off the frame- go to your local Honda dealer they can get you a new key from those numbers. If not, you can buy a new Ign. switch. you can try some used parts dealers. -- Try one of these sites ----->>>> http://www.drumhillcycle.com/ ----->>>> http://www.kawparts.com/default.asp --->>>> http://cyclesrus.net/

A locksmith should be able to cut you a new key if you take them the ignition switch.

What causes cbr 900 rr fireblade 1997 to be hot

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Engine oil level and SAE weight are too low or not circulating.
2. Insufficient or blocked air flow over the engine.
3. Heavy combustion chamber carbon deposits.
4. Ignition timing retarded due to faulty MAP, CKP, or CMP sensor.
5. Carburetor jetted too lean.
6. Leaking intake or exhaust valve.
7. Water coolant old or low change every two years.
8. Water pump failure.
9. Radiator clogged, cap loose or malfunctioning.
10. Radiator fans not coming on.
11. Clutch slipping, brakes dragging, heavy load, towing a trailer etc.
12. Idling too long without moving.
13. For constant hot weather temperatures, mountain, or desert riding conditions consider adding an oil cooler and or cylinder head cooler.

I have lost a key for a honda cbr 1000 2004. is there any way of over-riding the honda ignition security system so the bike can start. i have also been to a honda dealer and they cant do it but they say...

I would be amaized if there was an easy bypass for this. I would really start looking for that key. The key, barell and ECU are matched. If you lose a key with a HIPS equiped bike you are in or a big bill as all 3 units need replacing. There is a chip in the key which is matched to a coil in the ignition which has a code embeded in the ECU. Good luck.
