Question about Honda VT 1100 C Motorcycles

1 Answer

My 1994 Honda Shadow VT1100 C starts just fine when it has been sitting all night and is not warmed up. However, if I ride it around for a while and get it warmed up and then shut if off for 10 or 15 minutes, it nearly drains the battery to start. Help me please!!!

Make sure the battery is good, have it tested, the ignition system is very sensitive to even slightly low state of charge due cell sulfating will cause a weak spark that causes hard starting, trust me on this, I have had Japanese bikes for 40 years, a fully charged battery putting out full voltage will crank the engine like crazy on this bike, just because it seems to crank ok doesn't mean the battery is good, have it tested, also keep a maintenance charger on the battery like a "Battery Tender" brand whenever the bike is not in use for more than a few days, any auto parts store will do an electronic load test of the battery to determine the state of the battery, make sure the cells are full before the test, always use distilled water to fill low cells, any cell that goes down faster than the other cells indicates that that cell is sulfated and the battery is defective..

1194 VT1100 trouble starting. no problems prior to letting it sit

To begin with ...try to check if there is gas in the float chamber of the carburator/carburators by unscrewing the drain screw at the bottom of the carburator.
Secondly check if there is sparks coming to the spark course remember to wipe dry the gas around the bike's engine!
If you have both of this , it should start ... you may hve to use the choke to start.
Let me know if it did start .thks .
Hope this will help!.
