This is just a suggestion , but i would go to a bike shop and have a look at a bike just like yours to see if you see which coloured wires go where ! even draw on paper as best you can and try to match them up , sometimes you may find by asking them at the counter they may tell you what you need to know , i'm sorry i don't have a bike but i thought you may appreciate the suggestion , even type the make an model of you bike online and refer to the word electrical scematic after the name of your bike and model or manuals and see what comes up ?
hope this helps ..

I own a 1997 fatboy 1340 evo with 26,000 miles on it,, i have straight pipes no baffles and a nice custom air cleaner and a screaming eagle power comander under the seat, bikes been running fine for a year...

that maybe part of it but the carb needs ajustin and cleanin--backfire is from a rich condition-so the float level can be wrong or the jets have issue--also make sure ur gitten proper spark voltage cause if low then not all gas is burned

I also have the same bike , and the same issue , the bike ran amazing untill i started to get a slight bog , so i puled the carb and cleaned it , but i think when i did that i messed with the float and now...

Do not buy a new carb. The float would not change adjustment unless you changed it. I suspect that you have a dirt particle causing what you describe. Pull the carb, remove the float, and flush the inlet valve, but look for the offending foreign object. Let some fuel flush out feed line before putting it all back.

Starting trouble

If the odd substance was at the bottom of the float bowl it was water. If it were oil it would have mixed with the gas and you would not have seen it. Drain the carb into a cup to remove any additional water from the carb and petrol tank. When no more water comes from the tank you should be okay to start the bike. Clean air filter? Water gets into the tank via condensation in the tank.

Get a manual and be careful as aluminum parts are easy to strip out and break

Removing baffles

When removing such things or even changing exaust system, make sure carb jets are reset. Or if your bike is fuel injected to have it reprogramed.By changing exaust flow you change intake flow.

could be a few things going on . have you checked the vacuum lines? could have one plugged or collapsed? Could be a carb problem? have you installed a carb kit yet ? or you could try a hotter spark plug.

Yamaha 660 raptor dies when choke is tuned off

hello I am Vortash .. I would say your problem is either blocked idler jets or incorrect fuel mixture ( Air to fuel not correct ) take the bike to your local garage to use their air line unless you have a compressor of your own remove the fuel feed tank side and blow it through with the airline if this don't cure it you will probably need to have the carbs tuned to manufacturesr spec's , If you are more mechanicaly minded strip the idler jets out pass a fine strip of wire through them and replace .You can also get this problem if you have an air leak on the maniflod or the carb bowl etc hope this helps regards Vortash
