Question about 1993 Harley Davidson FXR Super Glide
I would still suspect the battery. A battery will test good using a standard volt ohm meter because there is not load being applied to the battery. You can take the battery out and take it to an automotive parts house. Ask them to load test the battery. Now, I am assuming that the battery has been starting this engine fine up until recently. If not, you may need a stronger battery with higher CCA's (cold cranking amps) if your engine is a high compression version. Nine out of ten starting problems are battery related. That's what it sounds like in your case. If the battery is over two years old, it's a good probablility that it needs replacing. The Softails are rough on batteries. The reason is that the battery is subjected to a lot of heat being positioned in the middle of the horseshoe oil tank and vibration even though the Softail has the counterbalanced engine.
