Since neither of your brake lights are working, I'd suspect either the bulb, the socket, or the wiring to the stoplight. Remove the screws and the brake light lens. Take the bulb out and replace it with a new bulb. Look into the socket and make sure the two contacts are clean.

Good Luck

2014 road king flhr. No brake light when useing front brake. Rear brake works fine. Cruse control not working.

Hi, Calvin when you fix your front brake light issue your cruise control will work fine so before diagnosing any brake light issue always check the bulb and fuse first for integrity a brake light staying on is usually caused by the front brake light switch, which is mechanical, not disengaging. On early models moving the throttle control housing closer to the front brake master cylinder is the main fix. On late models, the switch gets tweaked and needs to be realigned. A brake light that does not come on when the brake lever is applied can be caused by a faulty switch or no continuity in the wiring at the switch. The rear brake light switch is hydraulic and it is extremely rare to malfunction in a closed circuit condition causing the brake light to stay on. Usually, rear brake light switch issues are caused by no brake pedal free play or a sticky rear master cylinder piston. A brake light that does not come on when the rear brake pedal is depressed can be caused by a faulty switch, air contamination in the brake line, or no continuity in the wiring at the switch.

Why are only two of my brakes working on my 98 bonneville pontiac?

This is a litlle strange as the master cylinder has the brakes usually set up with the fronts together and the rears together. you can see if the caliper on the front is siezed and the master cylinder frozen on the rear wheel. Does the car have ABS and if so have the lights come on

Flhx foot brake light not working

Hi Anonymous, this problem is usually cause by the front brake light switch being out of alignment or the button not retracting all the way keeping your brake light on in a closed circuit, depending on your model year. 1996 and earlier models the right handlebar switch housing had to be tight up against the front brake control housing in order for the front brake light switch button to be fully compressed to stop continuity. In 1997 and later models the button was alot shorter and was more of an alignment issue in the switch housing. Rear brake light switches located in the rear brake line TEE can also fail in the closed circuit condition but extremely rare, usually they fail in an open circuit condition where the brake light is not able to activate. No brake lights (bulb works when lights are on), no rear turn indicator lights(front turn indicators are working and rear bulbs do not appear to be blown)

The first thing i would check is the stop safety switch located under the brake pedal or brake pedal arm. If this piese has failed there will be no current to the brake lights when you apply the brakes

Passenger side brake light does not work. I

There might be something wrong with the electrical connector behind the panel on the drivers side in the rear... check there with a test light.
Check your light socket in the rear with a test light while having someone pulse the brake up front so you can see if you have brake current there.
If you have brake current at the socket check your ground there and your connections.
The brake circuit in that car is the same on the right left and third stop... you have orange turn signals so the brake lights there are single purpose.
Look for the problem with your test light... you will find it and it is located in the rear of the vehicle... not up front.

No rear brakes, pedal goes all the way down and brake lights don't work, but they work off the fronts

You need to check you rear brake master cylinder. Something is wrong with this as your rear brake is not working. The brake light for the rear brake is activated by a pressure switch whereas your front brake light is activated by an normal push/release switch. Fix your rear brake problem and the brake light problem will be repaired as well.

It may be time to rebuild your rear brake master cylinder.
