Question about 1998 Suzuki GSF 600 S Bandit

HELP: Now & then I experience a sudden jolt of power in third gear. Its usually just after I've changed up a gear & have twisted the throttle - then a few moments later it hits a 'flat spot' that causes the engine to make an over accelerated sound, with very little power increase(although it sounds powerful) I have recently altered the clutch cable on the engine casing screw, charged the battery & changed the oil & filter too! Any info.....well appreciated! Cheers, J

I have a 05 dakota 3.7l and it hesitates when it reaches 2,000rpms in every gear. It doesn't throw a check engine light and when i give it more throttle it will climb normally. But everytime, and onl

Why would changing trans fluid help anything?

You change fluid every 3 years ,on all vehicles,
because the fluid breaks down & can not remove
heat anymore & it's additive pkg's are used up

You need it at a shop that has experience & professional
tools, to road test & component test a vehicle

Unless you have those tools & study automotive technology
& don't do much else in life, your not going to learn to work on
today's technology

There can be codes but not ones your going to get with a code
reader

A 2005 vehicle ,should be on it's second or third set of spark plugs
New Oxygen Sensors & other items

Lack of knowing what Preventative Maintenance is required,is most
peoples vehicle issues & not doing anything but drive them

If you fail to look at data twice a year & before going to inspection,
you learn nothing & have no records on what's what, when it is working okey

Car jolts when accelerating

HAVE YOU THE SOLUTION TO YOUR PROBLEM? I FEEL I HAVE A VERY SIMILAR PROBLEM. WHEN I PUSH THE ACCELERATOR FULL THROTTLE, WHEN THE 3 GEAR PASS TO 4 GEAR I HAVE A VIOLENTLY KICK. BUT IF I DON`T PUSH FULL THROTTLE THE TRANSMISSION FEELS GOOD. IF YOU HAVE A SOLUTION PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I ALL READY CHANGE THE VALVE BODY, ALSO I TRY WITH AN OTHER COMPLETE TRANSMISSION, BUT THE PROBLEM IS THE SAME.

Hi I have Honda Odyssey 2000 v.6 3.0lt, recently the transmission plays up, it doesn't shift gear, but engaged in third gear all the time and D green light keeps flashing. I don't know why it

Possibly the Throttle position sensor (TPS) This controls a number of things one of wich is when the transmition changes gear. I recomend you have the vehicle scaned though & that should give you an answer.

Emissions light sensor coming on and some days the subaru loses power and feels like she is having trouble getting into gears but she is auto.

Hi natalie5476,

There are several problems with this picture. First, it is posted under "Chevrolet Cars & Trucks" while you clearly state in your question that you are talking about a Subaru.

Then there is the question of replacing a "Fuse"??? What fuse would you replace when the light is obviously receiving power from the battery?
It sounds to me like you are taking your vehicle to a "mechanic" that knows less about the car and how it is supposed to work, than you do.

I would recommend trying again by taking it to an automotive repair technician that is properly trained and has the correct equipment to diagnose and repair your vehicle.

I get stuck in third gear almost every time I take the car out. It has gotten to a point now where the other day, when it was raining, my car jolted, the steering wheel sort of locked and so did the wheels...

I've just copied this from wikipedia:-

A traction control system (TCS), also known as Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR), is typically (but not necessarily) a secondary function of the anti-lock braking system on production vehicles, and is designed to prevent loss of traction of the driven road wheels, and therefore maintain the control of the vehicle when excessive throttle is applied by the driver and the condition of the road surface (due to varying factors) is unable to cope with the torque applied.
The intervention can consist of one or more of the following:
  • ****** or suppress the spark to one or more cylinders
  • Reduce fuel supply to one or more cylinders
  • Brake one or more wheels
  • Close the throttle, if the vehicle is fitted with drive by wire throttle
  • In turbo-charged vehicles, the boost control solenoid can be actuated to reduce boost and therefore engine power.
Typically, the traction control system shares the electro-hydraulic brake actuator (but does not use the conventional master cylinder and servo), and the wheel speed sensors with the anti-lock braking system.

I'd suggest

1) Have a look at the Hyudai website, see if there's a forum or discussion group where the same problem has been encountered / resolved.

2) Getting it plugged into proper the diagnostic equipment.

Transmission jumping out of gear, and not going into gears. also sticking in gear.

Sounds like a selector problem possibly due to one too many wheelies, unfortunately this involves major heart surgery to replace the worn cog (usually 1st & 3rd) however it is a cartridge gearbox so although it's a nasty job it's not quite an engine rebuild.

Hope this helps

On two seperate occassions, my 1988 HD FXRS seemed to lose power suddenly on the freeway - It went from 70 mph to 15 mph without shifting down from fifth. I attempted shifting through all gears but nothing...

The latter part sounds like insufficient play on the clutch lever--the clutch seems to be slipping. Sudden power loss is usually linked to the ignition system. Have you checked the lube level in the transmission? You could be having a bearing seizure if the lube is low.

Final drive knocking/jolting

Does the engine's sound working follows this jolting or it does nothing to do with it?If you close your eyes can you hear the jolting (not as a metal sound but as an engine's hick up)?
