What's your year, make, model and engine? - And one question - the insulator/boot that connects your carb to your head: does it have a hard plastic shell or metal/rubber, rubber? The older Yamaha Bear Trackers and the like had a boot that was a metal housing that bolted to the head with a rubber boot glued to that where your carb attached with a hose clamp. Those boots? Garbage. Just a matter of time. The slightest hairline crack can cause a starve situation - you CANNOT create the vacuum needed for the carb to suck fuel out of the bottom/bowl if there is a leak at that boot. As the engine creates the vacuum that would pull that gas - the vacuum escapes from that crack in that boot. You MUST HAVE PROPER back pressure vacuum to pull the fuel out of that carb. Here's an easy test - if you can get it to turn over - then do it. A few good tries. Make sure your spark plug is clean and dry prior to doing this. After a few good tries - pull that plug out and let me know what it looks like. If it's dry? More than likely your loosing vacuum somewhere - you are not pulling fuel out of the carb and into the engine if that plug is bone dry. If it's drenched but nothing is happening you may have an electrical issue. Nothing major. It's either getting fuel in that chamber or it's not - find that out and we'll go from there. Kohler courage 6.5hp wont start?

Could be a short in the coil for the sparkplug. Check the magneto- pull the plug wire off the spark plug and hold it close to the frame of the while someone tries to start it. Keep all parts of your body clear of the mower- only hold the sparkplug wire. When the motor turns over, verify spark from the wire to the frame. If no spark, you likely have a bad magneto coil. If you have a good spark, try taking the air filter off and use some engine starter fluid (not much) and then try and start again. If it starts and runs for a second with the starter fluid, you probably have a problem with your fuel not getting in, which leads to troubleshooting the carb and intake.

Scag zero turn 52"deck tiger mower

If you have spark, compression, and fuel to the carb but not at the plug. You have a clogged carb. Try starting with starting fluid, if it fires briefly, your carb needs to be removed and cleaned.

My 2005 buel turns over bit wont start spits out carb its a 500

Check to see if it is sucking thru the carb. it should suck only - no blowing out of it. You could also check to make sure the carb is actually in the rubber boot that attaches it to the head - the blast likes to backfire and pop the carb out of the boot or pop the boot off the head. (REALLY COMMON). If it is sucking without any blowing, spray some fuel into the carb and see if it starts if it does - carb wasn\'t cleaned or has bad fuel/water in the gas. If it is blowing out of the carb you have internal engine woes that need the dealer to help you out. (stuck/bent valve)

1963 allstate 125 scooter will run like new than it won,t start even thought it's getting spark and gas

Hi! I assume your problem only applies when the engine is hot. This could be one of several things:
1 - bad seals 2 - broken engine body (heat expands it and lets air in / compression out) 3 - related to above, but happening on top end (cylinder/head)
All these are hard to fix at home, but there it could also be related to a carb problem... imagine your scooter is running too rich, it will run ok for the first kms, but after you stop and because the plug is dirty and/or the engine is flooded, it wont start anymore.
When this happened did you check the sparkplug look (is it dark? dry or oily?)
Hope this helps! Regards

Only runs on starting fluid.

no fuel getting into carb pull apart and rebuild if water or fuel was left in lines than possible the float valve seat or fuel in line has a clog best is to let soak than blow out lines and use a wd40 or such little red tube and sruirt into the carb body to blow out and clean the nooks and crannies of the carb-- the well keeps fuel in and around fuel line for when u tilt or turn unit

Cultvator is not starting as we pull start

I take it this is the first cranking this season. The most probable cause is stale fuel. Never ever store fuel in a small engine over the winter. Now, the bad fuel has most probably fouled the sparkplug, so you need both fresh fuel AND a NEW sparkplug.

Your carb is going to be gummed up, but if you'll get the high priced fuel with the "cleaners" (like Chevron with Techron) it may save you the trouble of disassembling the carb.
