Jack the rear of the bike as high as you can safely get away with. The rear fender makes you require a lot of clearance to get the wheel clear of the bike.
Make note of the protrusion of the rear brake actuator rod and remove it from the actuator arm. Remove the bolt from the rear brake plate anchor arm.
Remove the plastic cover from the left side of the axle.
Remove the cotter pin from the axle end, then remove the nut by holding it with a wrench while turning the left end of the axle with a socket. You may need to tap the right end of the axle to start it moving out, and this is a tight area because of the pipes, but it should not take too much coercion. Once it begins to budge, you should be able to work it out from the left side. Remove the axle spacer.
While supporting the wheel ( I use my auto jack for this), wiggle the wheel until the drive unit splines disengage. You are now ready to work the wheel out from under the fender. There is a sleeve inside the drive end of the wheel, try not to let it pop out and get dirty. Don't forget to grease those drive splines when reinstalling, and to restore the brake rod to its former setting, unless you are adjusting it at the same time.

How do i remove the rear tire from a suzuki c50

Do you mean the tire from the wheel, or removing the wheel from the motorcycle itself? I think you mean the latter. You will need a lift to support the bike on its frame, after that you pretty much just remove nuts and bolts holding the brake calipers and such on. A tip I would suggest is to get the bike up on whatever stand you use to keep the rear off the ground, and place something under the tire that just sits below it or is just under it so that you don't bend axels and such. The biggest problem I can see you running into is the rear fender. At which point I hope some one else here has done this for your particular bike and found a way NOT to take that whole thing off to get the wheel out. Good luck

Nothing external; it simply slips onto the splines of the shifter shaft. Since the Volusia became the C50 in '05, they have been stock, did a previous owner remove yours?

Where is the battery located for a suzuki boulevard c50

The battery is under the saddle. You will have to remove the rear saddle (if equipped) as well as the front saddle to get at the battery. The tools to accomplish this are provided in the tool kit that came with the bike.
