How to change oil in a Honda Reflex Scooter

Things You'll Need
  • Socket wrench
  • 17 mm socket
  • Drain pan
    • 1 Move the Reflex to a level, well-ventilated work area and lift it onto its center stand. Start the Reflex's engine. Let it idle in place for 3 minutes, then stop the engine and let it cool for 10 minutes.
  • 2 Unscrew the oil filler cap from the right engine cover, which is located near the rear swingarm below the right passenger foot peg, by hand.
  • 3 Unscrew the oil screen cap, located directly below the oil cap, using a socket wrench and a 17 mm socket. Drain the engine oil into a drain pan for a minimum of 5 minutes.
  • 4 Pull the oil strainer screen out of the oil screen port by hand. Spray the inner face of the strainer screen, facing the engine, with a parts cleaning spray to remove sediment or particles trapped in the strainer. Push the strainer screen into the engine.
  • 5 Replace the oil screen cap O-ring with a new O-ring. Screw the oil screen cap into the engine by hand. Tighten the cap to 14 foot-pounds, using a torque wrench and a 17 mm socket.
  • 6 Fill the engine with 1 quart of 10W-30 API SG motorcycle-grade engine oil, using a funnel. Screw the oil cap into place by hand.
  • 7 Start the Reflex's engine. Let it idle for 3 minutes, then stop the engine. Check the oil level, using the dipstick built into the oil cap. Add 2 oz. of 10W-30 API SG motorcycle-grade engine oil into the engine, if the oil level is below the dipstick's lower level mark. Do not add oil into the engine, if the oil level is at or near the center of the dipstick's upper and lower marks. Screw the oil cap into place by hand.

Honda NF 100 Wave overheating no power

Hi, King and the usual suspects are:
    1. Engine oil level and SAE weight are too low or not circulating.
    2. Insufficient or blocked air flow over the engine.
    3. Heavy combustion chamber carbon deposits.
    4. Ignition timing retarded due to faulty MAP, CKP, or CMP sensor.
    5. Carburetor jetted too lean.
    6. Leaking intake or exhaust valve.
    7. Water coolant old or low change every two years.
    8. Water pump failure.
    9. Radiator clogged, cap loose or malfunctioning.
    10. Radiator fans not coming on.
    11. Clutch slipping, brakes dragging, heavy load, towing a trailer.
    12. Idling too long without moving.
    13. For constant hot weather temperatures, mountain, or desert riding conditions consider adding an oil cooler and or cylinder head cooler.

Honda wave 125 producing white smoke

First clean your air filter element, a clog air filter means air will be forcebly sucked from your engine together with engine oil producing white smoke. Or it can be worse, a broken piston ring, you need to change a set of piston ring. do not run your engine if it has a broken piston ring cause it will damage your cylinder block and will cause engine seizure.

Chokes out when idling and excellerating. Must put in neutral at stop lights

    1. Check the distributor and optical sensors for 5 volt square waves. At the distributor 4-pin connector, there should be 12 volts at the Orange wire, 5 volts at the Blue and Yellow wires and a good ground on the Black wire, with the key on engine off and disconnected from the distributor. Connected and backprobing, should see the square waves on the Blue (1 degree) and the Yellow wire (180 degree).

    2. Check for oil in the distributor. If found, check the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) system for clogging.

    3. Check the secondary ignition. The spark plug wires, down through the cylinder head, could be arcing (especially if the engine has been washed).

    4. Check the fuel pressure (36 PSI) with a vacuum hose connected and 43 PSI with it disconnected. Tech Tips: Very common failure - if oil is leaking from the distributor (between the cap and body), it most likely has an oil film inside on the sensors
