Replace the rectifier assembly-you have a bad diode or two. If you want to do it yourself - get the bearings too, as well as a replacement regulator. All are internal parts.

Check your electrical system. It would seem as if your alternator isn't charging correctly. You should be getting approx 14 volts at the battery with the engine running.

2001 electra glide wont start starter relay makes a buzzing noise

Hi Anonymous, when you are trying to diagnois anything in the starter circuit you must start with a fully charged battery of 12.5 volts or better and will pass a load test of 9 volts or better while cranking the engine over and the cable connections are clean and tight especially the negative cable at both ends. If you suspect a faulty starter relay just swap it with your horn, brake, or system/fuel pump relay, if the bike starts with no problems replace the bad relay. Good luck

2004 ultraclassic while driveing the volt meter goes from 14 down to 10and then backe up, does this most of the time while driveing, while stop at idle it stays at 14 lights dont dim or anything. whats...

Could be a number of things. Check the stator plug connection, the battery connections and the connections at the back of the volt meter. My guess is that something is loose and not making a connection while riding because of the vibration from the bike when riding. Also check the ground wire from the voltage regulator.

Hi Lisa, and the usual suspects are:
1. Spark plugs in bad condition or partially fouled.
2. Spark plug cables in bad condition or leaking.
3. Spark plug gap to close or to wide.
4. Faulty ignition coil, module and or sensor.
5. Battery nearly discharged.
6. Damaged wire or loose connections at battery terminals especially the ground cable at BOTH ends, ignition coil, or plug between ignition sensor and module.
7. Intermittent short circuit due to damaged wire insulation.
8. Water or dirt in fuel system, carburetor or filter.
9. Fuel tank vent system plugged or carburetor vent line closed off.
10. Carburetor controls misadjusted.
11. Damaged carburetor or intake seals.
12. Loose or dirty ignition module connector at crankcase.
13. Faulty MAP, CKP, and or CMP sensors.
14. Incorrect valve timing.
15. Weak or broken valve springs.
16. Damage intake or exhaust valve.

I have a 92 electra glide motorcycle, after changing the stater, magic box, battery, starter the bike still will not turn over. Can anyone help?

You can test it by applying voltage directly from the battery to the starter where the green wire is connected. If this causes the starter to engage, then adding a relay will probably solve your problem..Also, if your glide is equipped with a clutch safety switch, check that. You can can do that by bypassing it to test. I'm not sure if the 92 had it or not, but thought i would mention it because i have seen that be the problem before. Of course, make sure your "run" switch is in the run position---Hope this helps.

Voltage problem when running bike

The voltage regulator should present 13.5 to 14.5 volts at the battery to charge it properly (engine at fast idle). I'm not sure if the V regulator is adjustable or not. If not, then it probably needs to be replaced. The alternator appears to be trying to do it's job, although it may have an open diode or winding if the alternator is 3-phase. An oscilloscope is the best tool to check for all three phases working properly. Good luck!

Battery not charging 2000 flht/regulator or stater how do i test?

unhook the nefative cable from the battery and start the bike by using another battery and then unhook the starting battery. Put a volt meter from the negative cable and then to the negative side of the battery. It should show around 14 volts if charging system is working ok.

2005 Ultra Clasic volt at idle is 10.5 @ 2500 it reads 12.

Use a voltmeter hand held NOT that goofy guage on your dash see if their is a difference. HD can slap a meter on it in a jiffy. Idle should be around 13 AND 2000 RPM 14....I have put regulators in that were bad out of the box...Stater have not had a bad one from the box yet. knock on wood.
