Fuel gauge not working properly

Hi, Anonymous you could have a faulty sending unit or gauge, there could be a problem with your wiring. On models with the fuel gauge posing as a left-hand fuel cap the gauge is a press fit do not try to unscrew it, simply ample force lift up in a rocking motion to remove gauge. Disconnect wires to the gauge and with a set of positive and negative jumpers from the battery connect the positive jumper and flash the negative, gauge should peg full, if not replace the gauge. With a test light check for power to the sending unit, then remove the sending unit and manually operate the float arm slowly with the correct wiring hooked up to the fuel gauge and sending unit and the ignition on, the gauge should respond accordingly if not replace the float arm assembly. If your fuel gauge registers the incorrect amount of fuel in the tank you can try bending the float arm the necessary amount for a more accurate reading. Fuel gauge doesn t work

Most of the time it is the sending unit in the fuel tank.Remove the connection from the fuel tank, and using a test light, test the wires that you removed from the fuel tank. Clip the alligator clip on the test light to a good known ground, and use the probe on the test light to touch the terminals in the connector you unplugged.Make sure the ignition key is turned to the on position, right before start position.Have someone to watch the gauge. At this point the gauge should be showing past the full position. When touching the right terminal in the connector you removed from the tank, the fuel gauge should move down toward the empty mark.If this fuel gauge doe do this when you are testing it,then the gauge in the dash is good and the sending unit is bad.

Hi mate, i got problem, i got honda accord vtec 2001 a/c, so where is fuel filter, and how its looks, cant find, cant see.. i dont understand from that car enything, i know that is fuel filter, becase car...

Fuel Filter Removal & Installation To Remove:
  1. Remove fuel tank.
  2. Remove fuel pump/fuel gauge sending unit.
  3. Remove fuel filter from fuel pump/fuel gauge sending unit.
To Install:
  1. Install fuel filter to fuel pump/fuel gauge sending unit.
  2. Install fuel pump/fuel gauge sending unit.
  3. Install fuel tank.
---
However, I would look at ignition or tune up issues rather than simply a fuel filter.

Find out what the engine problem is by having the engine's computer scanned through the OBD-II port.

Gas guage doesnt work

It sounds like a problem with the fuel gauge sender unit in the fuel tank which has worn out and gone open circuit and needs replacing. Access to the unit is usually through a removable plate in the floor in the rear of the vehicle. Disconnect the wiring connector and any hoses and then remove the securing screws. Replacement is done by reversing procedure.

Fuel gauge problem

Got the same problem, when empty fuel gauge shows full but fuel indicator light lights on.
Problem was the gauge itself and replaced by a second hand one.
How to remove: Remove the front glass (8 screws), remove the black frame (free), pull out both gauges (Fuel & Temp) they come togheter with their frame using a little screewdriver under their corners. Push the new unit in.That's it. Michel
