My xbox wont read my disc. it makes unusual noises when i close the tray. whats wrong?

You might want to check for these things and ask other people that use the Xbox as well, in case if they did this.
1. Put any foreign objects (i.e., screwdrivers, pencils, etc.) in the disc holder, and closed it.
2. Put in multiple discs, whether intentionally or accidently.
3. Just messing around with it, e.g. pulling disc holder after pressing the button to close it.
Also, you might want to check if anything is loose, such as the laser that reads the discs.

Hi, the unit needs to have the laser reader lens cleaned but DONT use regular rubbing alcohol.
Get pure stuff....the rubbing type leaves a glare on glass and plastic lenses.
Also ,the chrome rails that the laser moves along need to be cleaned and lubed with liquid silicone.
This method clears read problems most of the time.
