I'm trying to change the battery in 2001 dyna wide glide I removed the bolt to the left of box that comes up thru a backwards c-shaped bracket and into the frame. On the older wide glides, you had to remove the seat. There were two bolts between the battery box and the rear fender on the outside. Loosen, but don't remove these two bolts. Back under the seat just inside the frame was a "jack bolt". Turn the bolt Counterclockwise and the battery tray would lower, Clockwise to raise it back up. Once lowered, top cover and outer cover would come off the battery. I hope this helps.

Good Luck
Steve

Location of code reader plug in on a 2001 harley dyna glide

Hi Anonymous, all fuses, circuit breakers, relays, and modules will be behind the left side panel cover secured by grommets, four nuts or screws. On later models the electrical panel bracket cover secured by four nuts or screws must also be removed to gain access to electrical components. Good luck and have nice day.

Harley davidson FXD dyna super glide , how to change the battery

what year is your bike? on my 2005 dyna fxd, there is a small bracket adjacent to the battery box on the right side of the bike. there are two bolts in it. one screws in vertically upward. completely loosen that bolt but do not remove it. there is another bolt that screws inward horizontally. you can remove that bolt. the battery box/ tray should then pull down and angle outward to allow access to the battery. the negative cable should be the first cable removed and the last one connected.

How to remove and replace a starter on a FXWG wide glide 1980 Shovelhead harley

To remove the starter from your Shovelhead, first disconnect the battery and take it out of the battery tray. Remove the battery tray, two bolts that bolt to the oil tank and the rubber mounts. Take the battery cable off the starter motor and take the bracket that supports the rear of the starter motor off. The bracket is bolted to the transmission and the rear of the starter motor. Take the remaining long bolt out of the starter. Work the starer out of the starter drive housing. Do not allow the starter motor to come apart as the two long slender bolts that you removed also hold the sections of the motor together. The same when you install the new motor. It will come apart and unless you've got some experience in getting the brush holder back on the armature, it can be a problem. Don't let the motor come apart.

I'm having trouble removing the battery from my 2004 FWDWG Dyna Wide Glide. Any suggestions?

Well. let's see if Harley has changed anything. I can tell you how the earllier Wide Glide batteries came out and we can see if Harley has changed thing drastically. I doubt it.

First, remove the seat. The bolt at the rear of the seat screws into the rear fender. Remove the bolt, raise the rear of the seat and pull it to the rear. The seat should come off. On some bikes, you may have to remove the small sissy bar by removing the two small bolts on either side of the uprights on it.

Now, you'll see the battery box on the right side of the bike. Look just rearward of it and you should see two bolt heads between the battery box and the rear wheel. The are battery tray lock bolts, loosen them but don't take them out.

Now, look just inboard of the battery into the frame. You'll see the head of a "jackbolt". Turn the screw counterclockwise and the battery tray will lower and allow you to get the top cover and the surround off. From there you can get to the cable connections at the battery post.

I hope this works for you.

Good Luck and Ride Safe.

How do you change the battery on a 2005 dyna wide glide?

I have a '94 model FXDWG and I don't know if Harley has changed anything or not but here's how I get mine out.

Remove the seat first. Then the battery cover will come off the top and around the battery. Look on the left side of the battery tray that there are two bolts going into the frame. Loosen these bolts. Now back up on top of the frame behind the battery, there is a bolt that raises and lowers the battery tray. Lower the battery tray. Disconnect battery cables (negative first always). Remove battery.

Hope this helps.
