High low idle, rough idle stalling

If it's surging, make sure your radiator is full. Do a tune up, plugs, wires, etc. Put some fuel injector cleaner in your fuel tank. On a cold start the vehicle compensates for being cold by adding fuel. Once it warms up the computer tells it to quit adding extra fuel. If it is a bad sensor of sorts, check engine light should come on.

I have a 93 buick regal custom 3.1L. The car takes two tries to start and then once it gets going it will stop when i take my foot off the gas. Any advice?

Sounds fuel related. but, first, when was your last tune-up(plugs, fuel filter, pcv valve, air filter, check all fluid levels)? If everything has been checked, the next thing is get your fuel pressure checked with a fuel pressure gauge. Also have your diagnostic codes, if any, read by a parts store for free. A code will direct you to an engine or emissions-related problem.

I have a 2001 Ford Explorer...It starts only when you have your foot on the gas and dies out after you remove your foot. Anyone have any idea what this could be...It also seems to be idling very low.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. Sounds like you may not be getting enough fuel to the engine. I would try replacing the fuel filter. If that doesn't help, I would check out the fuel injectors. You could have a bad one. You should try checking the fuel pressure to see if it is a fuel issue. As far as a low idle, it may be because the low fuel output. If the fuel is correct, you may need to adjust the idle or it may be the idle control sensor.

1998 road king fuel injected seems like after 150-200 miles the bike does not want to idle and kills. I can get it it to start but have to keep the throttle up to keep it running even when shifting. ...

So the problem only occurs at idle. For some reason the injection is allowing too much fuel at idle. That explains the black smoke. At highway speed the engine needs the fuel but at idle it should have a lot less fuel so it loads up and blows black.

You may have one injector that doesn't seat fully so it dumps too much gas at idle. Try some brand of injection cleaner you can trust in your bike and see if that fixes it. If not, you better get it in to the dealer because it will be dumping contaminants into the engine oil.

The engine is spluttering and it seems the more i put fy foot harder on the gas pedal it seems to die over that if i just let it idle. I thought it was a alternator but the lights are on etc. It feels like...

I know this sounds silly but check the air filter for blockage/dirt. If a engine runs fine at idle then wants to 'bog' down at anything above idle it possibly could not be getting enough air.

Carb to much fuel

You said when you trun off the gas valve the bikes engine seems to idle nice and when you turn it on its pumping more gas...well its natural for it to get gas as you turn it on, you may hve to adjust the float of the carburator/s, the float level seems to be wrong allowing more gas in the chamber thn required for optimum function.

1983 Mazda RX7 lacks power rough or no idle

Sounds like carb idle air or fuel jets are clogged.. Test pressure with a gauge to be sure. Float level and drop needs to be exact.. Operation of the whole carb relies on this. Probably why you are not getting any change in your air/fuel adjustments.

Rough idle

I took mine in to change the plugs and they said there are four O2 sensors in the fuel mixture system and two were bad. I didn't replace them since they were a little pricey ($500 to replace both) and I have 103,000 on the car. Has very similar roughness and occasional oscillations, but no stalling. Hope this helps.
