Your bike came from the factory with H-D Syn3 synthetic 20W50 engine oil in the engine, primary, and the transmission. You bike takes three quarts in the oil tank. Always check your oil level with the dip stick when you change the oil. There are two marks on the stick. The top mark is "FULL HOT" and the lower mark is "FULL COLD". Keep the oil level between the two marks. Now, there are several manufacturers that make good oils for your bike. Mobil V-Twin, Amsoil, Royal Purple, Revtech and Motor Factory. All are good but check their websites for the recommended product.

Good Luck
Steve

Im looking at an '04 road king custom to buy. Quetion is, is the seat a two piece where it can become a solo seat?

Depends on the type of seat that is on it. I don't think the stock seats are two piece. But, there are seats available to convert it to a solo bike. Mustang is the best buy for the money in my book.

Oil drain plug for 2006 flhrs

The nut is a 5/8 socket, its almost directly under the seat on the bottom of the engine. Best to pull out the dipstick to drain the oil quicker. Use a new washer when you refit the sump plug to prevent leaks.

Oil Change instructions for a 2007 FLHRS . Is there an online instruction link available for changing the oil on my 2007 FLHRS

I've never seen an online link but Chilton's sells a manual that will tell you most anything you want to know.

To change the oil, you must first drain the oil tank. Looking underneath the bike on the bottom of the transmission, you'll see two drain plugs. One will be in the middle of the tank and one will be towards the left side of the bike and slightly forward. The one on the left side and forward is your oil drain. Remove it to drain your oil.

While the oil is draining, change out the filter. Simply screw the old one off and install the new one. You may have to take the crank sensor out of the crankcase to get the filter out. Remove the screw holding it in, pull it out. When you get the new filter back on, reinstall the sensor. Don't overtighten the bolt holding the sensor in.

Now refill the oil tank. I think your FLHRS takes four quarts of oil. Put in three and check the level with the bike on the stand. Fill to the "Full Cold" mark is reached.

If you drain the transmission oil, remove the small plug and refill with 20-24 ounces of Harley Davidson trans lube.

If you wish to drain and change the primary lube, remove the drain plug on the bottom of the primary case and the "derby cover" over the clutch. Once drained, replace the drain plug and stand the bike straight up. Add 40-44 ounces of H-D transmission/primary lube or fill until level just comes to the bottom of the clutch spring.

Your bike originally came with Syn3 lubricant in all three places.

Good Luck.

Oil change on 05 road king

I typed out a Real Long dissertation of how to do this step by step, and all of my tricks. Forgot what the primary oil amount is to refill, don't have access to my manuals. (Gloomy day for an old biker)

Went to find this info, and there's an old Harley mechanic, (Kinda' looks like me!), that has a step by step Video of how to do an oil change on a Road King!

Here it is,
