Question about 2002 Honda VT 750 CD Shadow A.C.E. Deluxe
My shadow makes a "clunking sound" in 1st thru 3rd gears at slower speeds. OK highway riding, and only when the bike is moving, not while revving in neutral. Any thoughts? "Clunking rate increases with speed, up to 4th and 5th gear.
Hi, Raijala46 I would love to help you with your engine or chassis noise but I just loaned my brand new pair of listening ears to your local dealer's chief technician so he could take your bike for a test ride and give you his professional opinion and estimate about your noise and repair cost. If you are a little short on "DRACHMA" and a Dealership is not on your list of fun places to visit then perhaps the list below will help soothe your worried mind so you can make an informed decision.

It should be 1 down and 5 up. About the 5500rpm at 85... That sounds about right with stock gearing. Let me know if i can help further. Good luck and happy holidays. Jay

SOURCE: Problem with the shifting
You have bent shift forks. I would replace all the forks in this case. This is a job for the shop. You would not want to tackle it at home. Most guys who do wind up taking a box of parts to the dealer. The repair costs more that way than if you just take them the bike.
Sorry for your problem.
Pleas rate this solution. Thanks!

This sounds more like the carbs than the coil pack, but is unusual that 3 would go dead all at the same time unless it was one side of the ignition. The only time I have had 3 go out was when i had to fix the ignition. I have had to rebuild the carb assy out because of junk in the carbs, but it didn't affect 3 at a time.

SOURCE: won't accelerate in 4th gear
there is so many things that could cause what you are going through. the first thing i would do i check the clutch. it is where most problems with the tranny start and then you will get so a hole at the shop telling you that your tranny is bad when all that was wrong is the clutch being out of adjustment. take it to a shop you trust and have them check the clutch. it is a cheap process and does not take long to do at all. if it needs adjusting then you will be done and out without having to spend too much at all. if its more then you will be able to find out there. first thought though is the clutch.
