Possible that the contacts failed inside the transmission or the bulb failed in the dash board.
You can leave it if the problem is within so as not to open the unit to replace the switch contact.

2004 v star Silverado 1100. Neutral light is not coming on, can't find neutral, won't start with side stand down?

if the neutral light isnt working the bike assumes its in gear so it wont start with the stand down unless you pull the clutch in ,but it will cut out if you let the clutch out with the stand down.the neutral light works on a simple system it has a live feed to the bulb and the earth for the bulb goes to the neutral switch ,this is only earthed when in neutral which completes the circuit to the check your bulb is ok then check your neutral switch is earthed when in neutral, lastly check the bulb for a live feed.

1994 pontiac sunbird;i turn key on everything inside works.turn key over i get nothing

could have faulty starter or starter solenoid.hook test light make you a test light with longer wires and 12 volt bulb with socket go junk yard find good bulb with socket.hook test light to starter and see if test light lights up if so your starter or starter solenoid has a open winding. if test light dont light up could have blowed fuse to transmission neutral switch or neutral switch could be bad.try to start vechicle in neutral if vechicle starts your transmission neutral switch out of adjustment or neutral switch faulty check make sure wires going to neutral switch is damaged.

The neutral light doesn't light up at all, so it won't start whilst the kick stand is down

The neutral light on most Yamahas works by grounding through a neutral switch which is mounted in the engine case. When the circuit is grounded the light comes on and the interlock is satisfied.
So check the wiring harness on the left side of engine for any disconnected or damaged wire.
The neutral light circuit is usually a single sky blue wire. If you find it and all looks normal...unhook the lowest connector and ground the upper sky blue wire and see if the light operates...if it now works....your neutral switch is probably defective....or the brass "neutral point" that rotates with the shift cam shaft is worn and no longer making contact.

Why does my neutral light stay on 2002 yamaha v star

The neutral light works by grounding the cicuit through the neutral switch inside the transmission case. You may have a short on the wire running down to the engine, causing the light to remain on regardless of gear. Find a connector with a sky blue wire running down to left side of engine....unhook and see if light is out...if it is...inspect your neutral switch...if light stayed have an issue further up the wire.
Your bike has carb heaters...sometimes they are unhooked to conserve charging system capacity...if unhooked at wrong spot...a backfeed occurs giving a false neutral lamp which is dimmer than when in neutral.
Sometimes your interlock relays share the wire to the neutral switch and rely on diodes to prevent current backfeeding when not in neutral...this could be your problem....

I have a 07 ninja 650r and it will not start. I have ensured that the bike is in neutral and the kill switch is where its suspose to be but no joy. I turn the key its lights up the oil and neutral lights...

Even though the transmission is in the neutral light workimg?
To satisfy the interlocks, even if the light works.....try starting with sidestand up, and the clutch pulled in.
If it now starts...the interlock ciccuit is not sensing the bike is in neutral. If the light doesn;t work....inspect the wiring for your neutral switch ....usually the circuit grounds through the switch to the crankcase so any wiring break will prevent it from working.

Bike does not start or turn over at all. Lights work...but not neutral light...neutral switch problem? Sidestand switch?

If the neutral light is not working then it's likely the neutral switch is faulty. But most bikes will start in gear provided you have the clutch pulled in and the sidestand up. It could be either the sidestand switch or the neutral switch, I'm guessing neutral switch since your light isn't working either. it's usually located behind the sprocket cover on a white plastic plug but it depends what model you have. They usually don't break but it might be dirty and need cleaning. Most yamahas you can take them out easily, just be prepared in case oil spills as you remove it.

I have ceiling 240v spotlights and want to connect up 12 all together onto one switch tried wiring the lights thru the neutral and keeping the lives all one cable but when i tried the lights nothing...

Run two wires ((L)ive and (N)eutral) across each light and connect each light to these 2 wires till all 12 are connected. Then connect N to mains Neutral and connect the L Live to a switch and connect the switch's other wire to the main Live wire. You will need to wire a fuse in series. Use a switch that can handle the current total capacity or 12 lights. Use appropriate caution by switching off power when working on the wiring.

The neutral indicator switch is mounted in the right-hand crankcase directly forward of the main drive gear shaft and behind the forward belt pulley.

To access the switch, you must remove the front belt pulley cover. To get to the switch itself, you'll have to loosen the final drive belt and remove the pulley.

Disconnect the wire from the neutral switch. Turn the ignition on and ground the wire. The Neutral indicator light should light up. If not, you have an electrical problem between the neutral switch and the indicator light. If the light works like it should but will not work when on the switch, you need to replace the neutral indicator switch.

Simply screw the old switch out and install a new one.

Good Luck
