Question about 2008 Harley Davidson FLHX Street Glide

1 Answer

I just recently purchased a 2007 flhx street glide. the front inner and outer fairing have been replaced. QUESTION. my oil pressure gauge just started bouncing all over the place as far as the pressure reading goes. when i push on the gauge while riding, it reads as should. is there a chance that it wasnt tightened enough when switched over in the new fairing. didnt know if u ever heard of this happening.

Some bikes with after-market fairings have sloppy workmanship when it comes to extending the wiring out to the fairing. You may be suffering from this condition. Open the fairing enough to check the wiring--when two wires are just twisted together and taped, they will not stay together. Try tugging at any joints you find to see if they pull apart easily. Crimped **** splices are best and don't need to be taped. Check the back of the gauge for loose connections as well. Hope this helps!

No oil pressure on '06 street glide

Does the engine sound like a can full of rocks? If it does, you indeed have no oil pressure. If it sound normal, you've got a gauge or idiot light lying to you. Your engine is equipped with hydraulic lifters just like in an automobile engine. If you have no oil pressure, they'll clatter very loudly.

Good Luck

How do you take off the front fairing?

take off the front headlamp, unplug head lamp, remove windshield, remove screws along outer edges of inner fairing, there are 2 screws at the bottom inside the triple tree. This should remove it for you, i have done it several times adding speakers, garage opener, replacing bulbs, etc.

How do you remove the inner fairing and is this how you would tighten the handle -bars?

no need to remove the inner fairing to tighten the handlebars. You will have to remove the outer fairing however and the radio. Its not really difficult but I would suggest buying a factory service manual if you want to attempt it yourself.
