Check all your vacuum tubes for cracks, disconnects etc., then check all your air intake boots or airboxes for cracks or disconnects, then check your intake manifold for loose mounting bolts, cracks in the rubber or plastic, etc. if all that is good then run some TECHRON through your gas tank for one or two tanks. DO NOT ADJUST YOUR IDLE SCREW.....peace out

Is there any way to adjust the cold idle speed on ford ranger 3.0

There is a base idle speed set at the factory . From sensor inputs the PCM - engine computer controls idle speed in all conditions . There is nothing for you to change idle speed, you shouldn't even try . Will cause PCM to turn on the check engine light ,that you won't be able to turn off . If your having idle problems your best bet have a qualified repair shop check scan data .

What caused my 99 Honda Magna to die while running great at 45 mph?

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Severely discharged or a damaged battery must have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead acid batteries.
2. Faulty alternator/generator and or voltage regulator.
3. Loose or corroded battery terminals and or cables especially the "NEGATIVE" cable, look for loose, corroded, or broken connectors inside the cable harness at "BOTH" ends.
4. Faulty main circuit breaker or ignition switch, check for loose connections and continuity.
5. Faulty system and or ignition relay, check for continuity.
6. Faulty ignition coil, ignition/electronic module.
7. Faulty CKP, CPS, CMP, MAP, TPS, or BAS sensor, corroded, loose or broken wire connector pins/sockets.
8. Throttle cables and or idle speed improperly adjusted hot idle speed should be 950 RPM to 1000 RPM.
9. Faulty neutral, side stand or clutch lever safety switch.
10. Fuel tank empty
11. Fuel tank contaminated with ethanol sludge.
12. Water or dirt in the fuel system, or clogged filter.
13. Restricted, blocked or kinked fuel line.
14. Faulty fuel pump.
15. Faulty pressure regulator.
16. Faulty or clogged fuel injectors.
17. Lean angle switch is faulty or needs adjustment.

Durango keeps running when I shut the key off

Tow it to a dealer or repair shop that likes that
vehicle & has a clue about the issue

I had the same problem with my Lincoln
It was 7 failed ignition coils all at one time

Keep in mind I do all my own diagnostics &
everything else & have all the service manuals

My problems are way beyond the manuals usually

You lost throttle position & the pcm shut it down
to a failsafe sort of condition

No throwing parts at it,have to figure it out,
only if you know the vehicles pcm strategy

1998 corolla dies when idling runs ok driving

Engine stalls cold or RPM fluctuates at idle up and down or dies near idle.

This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve but always run a OBD2 fault code as well as the cleaning procedure. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control. If the above cleaning doesn't cure your issues you need to have the computer controlled automatic idle speed control system diagnosed and repaired by a dealer or electronic engine control repair shop.

After warm up will not idle dies at every stop

If the bike is equipped with a carburator, you could simply raise the idle speed a bit. Look at the top of the carb and you'll see a large round looking cover. On the right side of this cover, there is a small screw. This is the idle stop screw and it sets the idle speed of the engine. With the engine at full operating temperature, set the idle speed at 1000 rpm or so. Turning the screw clockwise increases the idle speed.

If you engine is fuel injected, you'll have to take the bike to a repair shop to have the idle speed adjusted.

Good Luck, Steve

Not starting

I had a similar problem ... It was my Low Idle needed adjusting. Hard time starting and would just die when I let off the pedal. The vibration form the motor wears down the flat bar that pushes to increase the idle speed. I know it sounds simple but it ran me around for a couple weeks. Old School Dodge Mechanic didnt even charge me to set it.

With your Auto Trans in gear and AC on you should be at 750-800 RPM.

Grab a manual like Haynes it shows you how in there and they are handy to have around.

Hope this helps and good luck.
