Question about Suzuki GSX 600 F (Katana Motorcycles

2 Answers

I purchased a 92 katana gsx600f from a friend and I have a couple questions. one: when checking the oil does the bike need to be on center stand or side stand? When I have it on side stand the oil window shows no oil. How do I get the right amount of oil? and two: my idle is either too high or too low. I can't seem to get the right setting from the throttle stop screw. The bike runs good but when I come to a stop is is idling around 2000-2100 and after 30 sec. or so it drops down to 1000 and below almost dying. What could be my problem? Thank you in advance.

To check your oil always have your bike upright and level. Using the center stand always makes for a quick level check before a ride. Some windows have a high and low mark on them, or a center dot on them for correct level, or a high/low bar behind the window to judge correct level. You may have to take your carburetors apart, clean and inspect them. Fluctuating idle is normally an air leak or improperly synchronized carburetors. Inspect your intake manifolds for cracks and separation , take off your carb tops and inspect the diaphragms for cracks, Inspect your float needles for wear, and make sure all the jets and passageways are clear. Check air screw settings and synchronize your carburetors(make sure that one carburetor is not set higher than the other three.) Your bike is almost 20 years old and cracking rubber is now an issue.

You check the oil on the center stand.Ad oil to you get it to the to line on the sight glass. As for running problem that could be a vacuum leak.Or carburetor problem.
Hope this helps

?suzuki gsx600f

It's likely a broken piston ring, worn out piston rings, or faulty valve seal(s)... However, it could easily be some other thing... like crankcase ventilation valves, lines or hoses...cracked block... I know.. I'm not being much help... but, a good mechanic can probably zero in on the problem...

Bike dies when shifted into gear 92 gsx600f

There should be a side stand switch, that when the side stand is down, and your clutch lever is out, the engine will stall.

How much oil do i need when doing an oil change on a suzuki gsx600f, 1989?

oil for motorcycles come in 4 ltr bottles as standard.this is more than enough for your bike.3.4litres will do the trick.also you should have a spy glass on the side of the engine caseing so you can see the oil level.there will be a low mark and high mark on the caseing.if you dont have a spyglass then you should have a dipstick attached the the oil filler cap.make sure the bike is level when you fill the bike with oil.once done run the bike for a minute then turn off and allow to stand for 5 mins and check the oil up if nessasary

I?m buying a 2000 Suzuki GSX 750 that was laid down the kid that wrecked it said the oil pan cracked and that is why he wreaked either way the oil pan is cracked I don?t know what would cause it. Nothing...

HI, I had a 2002 gsx600f, pretty much the same bike and I let a buddy of mine ride it and he came back with the oil pan cracked, turned out he tryed to ride a few wheelies on it and upon one of the landings the weight of the bike actually cracked the oil pan, they are extremly heavy compared to other sport bikes on the market. Ive never heard of an oil pan just cracking, more then likely it was user error.
