I have a 2008 Suzuki S50. It wont start and is dumping fuel from the overflow. Bike has less than 2000 miles on it. It has been sitting for a year. It had about 1/8th of a tank of fuel in it. We...

Take your carb off and apart and clean it throughly. Check your float to make sure its not getting stuck. If it ran fine befor do not tamper with the adjustment. Just free it up with lube then spray it clen with carb cleaner or starter fluid

Wont. start, engine turns over, but no fuel is getting to carb.

Fill Your tank with gas and bypass the fuel pump running a fuel tube directly to the carbs from the lower tank. If the bike runs you probably need a new fuel pump.

Mower starts fine but conks out in about a minute or two.I changed the air filter but it still stalls a minute after starting. toro mower is about 2 years old

Recheck your fuel selector to make sure it is ON. Also if this is the first start of the season there may be old gas / debris in the bottom of the float bowl. One other area to check is the bottom of the gas tank / fuel outlet port of the tank. I don't remember if this model had an in-line fuel filter but also something to check if installed.

This is listed under Toro Mower with power tools that has a 6.5 Briggs and Stratton engine.

To clean the carb passages you will need to do the following.

1. The adjustment screw on the side of the carb that has a spring on it. You need to count the number of turns it takes turning it clockwise until it just comes up snug NOT TIGHT. Then remove it.

2, Remove the float bowl and dump the contents.

3. Spray carb cleaner in the adjustment screw hole.

4. Disconnect the fuel hose to the carb and spray carb cleaner in the brass tubing hole. The cleaner should be exiting via the float needle. Make sure float assy is down....

5. Connect the fuel line. (use a spray paint can lid and catch the fuel in this step. FUEL SELECTOR on. Catch fuel exiting carb. Lift the float to a LEVEL position and feul flow should stop. DO NOT FORCE IT! Gentle lift only.

FUEL Selector off.

6. Install float bowl

7. Re-install adjustment screw/needle/spring in the side of the carb. Turn it until it just snugs up.. then back it off the number of turns it took to initially close it before removal.

FUEL Selector on... wait 30 seconds..

7. Start mower.

That should do it.

Wont run without choke being pulled out 1/4 .

-Remove Carb and clean, you have a high speed fuel port clogged.

This would also be a good time to replace your fuel lines, Take photos before you start.

-Drain all fuel from the Saws fuel tank.
-Remove and REPLACE with a NEW spark plug.
-Remove and RELPACE with a NEW Air filter.
-With spark plug and air filter removed and fuel drained pull the starting cord many times 12 or so to ensure there is no fuel in the chamber and also check for a spark at the plug.
-RE-MIX WITH NEW FUEL your 2 cycle oil to the correct ratio in a clean fuel can. it is OK to dump some in the Saws fuel tank slosh around and dump out in an approved container for disposal.
-Hold off on putting back on the air filter until you have had it running.

Hope this Tip Helps.

The moment the bike stands feul runs into the cranck case and then the fun starts... if it starts up, fuel sprays out the exhausts like a fire hose... is it because my fuel lines are in the wrong position...

The floats in the carbs are sticking open allowing the carb to overflow and fill the crank. Disassemble the carbs for cleaning. Also, turn off the gas tank valve when parked.

Will only start with direct feed or starter fliud

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

If after the "...start with direct feed or starter fliud...", the bike will idle / run correctly, then it is not a carb problem. If will not idle / run correctly, then a carb problem.

Initially, it would appear that the problem would be restricted fuel flow from the tank through the petc0ck (fuelcut off valve). A way to check is to drain carb bowls individually, compare quantity and quality of fuel from each. Guesstimate if the collected / drained fuel is about right for the bowl size.

If on the otherhand, it is a carb issue (float closing early hence too little fuel in the bowl), then a carb pulldown maybe required. The illustration here would give you an exploded parts diagram.

This CV carb tuning procedures may interest you.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

Have you changed the fuel filter. If you have run a temerary feul pipe from the tank to the carb sounds like a fuel restriction,
