Question about 2003 Yamaha XT 600 E

My 94 yamaha xt 600 wont start, the solenoid is bad but i can bypass it. Battery is getting plenty of voltage by jumpstarting it. Turns over but will not start.

You need to check the spark plug and make sure it is firing( has spark).Hope this helps

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel tank empty.
2. Fuel supply valve/petcock turned off.
3. Fouled spark plugs.
4. Engine flooded as a result of overuse of the enricher.
5. Vacuum hose to the fuel supply valve/petcock disconnected, broken, cracked, or pinched.
6. Fuel valve/petcock or filter clogged.
7. Fuel line to the carburetor or throttle body pinched or kinked.
8. Carburetor float stuck.
9. Fuel injectors clogged.
10. Severely discharged or damaged battery you need 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary.
11. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
12. Loose or corroded wire connection at the coil, battery or plug between ignition sensor and CDI box.
Spark plug cables in bad condition and shorting check for leakage in the dark, cable connections loose, or connected to the wrong cylinders.
13. Ignition timing incorrect due to a faulty MAP, CKP, O2, TPS, sensors.
14. Faulty neutral, clutch lever, or kickstand safety switch.
15. Faulty fuel pump or fuse or relay.
16. Faulty CDI box.
17. A stuck bent or burnt valve.
18. Tip over sensor needs a reset.
19. Check for engine trouble codes.

My Yamaha dirt bike ttr225 wont start. With new battery.no power to start button not even a click sound, i jumped the oldbattery. Rode and. It turned off would not jumpstart again. Bought new. Battery...


Try jumpering the terminals of the starter solenoid. If this spins the engine the starter solenoid is likely at fault. Before you go and replace it however, you might want to test the starter switch with a multimeter so you're sure it isn't a corroded switch.

Also if you manage to get the bike going, use a multimeter to check the voltage when the bike is running and when it is off. You should have at least 11.5 volts when off and 13.5 volts when running. The ideal is 12.5 and 14.4 volts respectively however.

Check your battery voltage ... then check the start solenoid for proper operation.

First:It is draining amps,bad rotor bushing (will touch the walls),bad brushes (lack of power).Last:Bad valves timing gets to increased force to crank.Cheers.

Hi, If you don't positive cable shorted to body, you are correct , the problem is on your alternator rectifier. You can not found anywhere the voltage regulator on your bike Except inside the alternator. You have to working hard to get your alternator out and fix the rectifier ( replace it of course). 1993 FZR 6000 Bike turns over fires, but won't start.

I am having problems getting good spark could a battary cause this problem low voltage even though it turns over (94 yamaha fzr 600)


Yes occasionally a battery can put out enough cold crank amps to spin the starter and motor, but in doing so drags the voltage down so the electronic ignition wont fire.


a couple of warnings
If you check for spark make certain there is a plug in the lead and it is grounded to the engine, if not the voltage builds up in the coils until it can spark to something.
dont jump it of a bigger car battery, when the bike starts it can try to produce more amps than its supposed to to try and charge the car battery and stuff the reg.

Engine wont start on yamaha xt600 e turns a few times with starter motor the solenoid clicks. battery is ok.


are you sure batterys ok?....if so check all conections on battery & solenoid...i would look at the battery being knackerd....get it checked

I have just bought an xt 600 1990 starts ok from cold but wont start when warm kick start only please help


Adjust your Valves, may be too tight, and they expand when warm keeping them from closing. Try to adjust them on a warm motor to get them in perfect spec...
