I have water in the engine oil. Could it be a water pump seal or a blown head gasket?

When you say that you have water in engine oil, do you mean that you have coolant mixed with oil ?
In order to determine if it's a seal or head gasket, you will need to perform a few tests. Cylinder leakage test on each cylinder can be done to determine if the head gasket is bad. When it comes to the water pump seal, if this was the problem, the coolant would not be mixing with the engine oil.

I got a 1990 Toyota hilux with a 22r engine in it. i changed the head and the head gasket it had coffee coloured stuff in the radiator but the coolant & the coffee coloured stuff weren't sticking

This is oil and water mixed together from the damaged head gasket buy some radiator flush and flush cooling system and also do an oil change after a few miles.

Oil mixing water

Oil in Coolant means broken engine seals, you lose compression, coolant gets hotter and this may lead to broken coolant pipes due to the pressure that comes from the engine trough the seal that has broken.

Engine service is needed for replacing Cylinder-head gasket.

Hope it helps

I have a Honda pressure washer with Cat Pump 3dx29gsi, it runs rough when I pull the trigger and after 5 min of running, oil starts to spit out of small hole on red fill cap on pump

Sounds like you need to open the pump and inspect the pistons and seals. It appears that the seals & or pistons are worn and the water is by passing into the crankcase of the gear box. A sure sign oil coming out of the filler cap & the oil in the gear box will look milky ( water & oil mixed) This is not a difficult task to perform. You can purchase seal kits on line or in your area from suppliers of multi brand pressure washers who usually stock plenty of spare parts for various brands; many of which are interchangable. if you buy from a brand specific supplier you will pay much, much more. I suggest you remove the pump and dismantle it, inspect the parts to determine what parts are required and take it from there . If you are not experienced in doing mechanical repairs use your camera / Phone and snap each step as you dismantle the pump. First Remove the complete pump from the engine and then remove the pump head from the gear box - about 6 bolts and a few fittings . In the head there are several check valves ( usually 3 inlet & 3 outlet) these need to be removed to be cleaned, inspected, check o-rings, springs and valve seat ( usually a small metal disc ) which in many cases is the cause of low pressure due to dirt lodged between the disc & seat. Remove one at a time note how they are assembled, take a photo and place in a small zip-loc bag each one individually & mark the bag in relation to where each one was removed.
The same goes for the seals and washers on the pistons, these are located in the housing and depending on the brand are stacked according to the design of the seals , again take photos , tag & bag them. I suggest to tie each set together exactly as they were assembled when you removed them; it will make it a lot easier for you to assemble them correctly when the time comes to install them. Finally clean out the crankcase to remove the milky oil & water mixture.

Go for it Its not rocket sicence.

Occasional heavy smoke on tickover, but not using oil and oil clean.

HI do you now the color of the smoke
if engine emits white smoke its not burning the fuel
it could be water mixing with fuel = head gasket even tho you
dot have water in the oil
if engine emits black smoke - that's excessive fuel to air ration
check air filter & air inlet to see if clogged

if engine emits blue smoke - excessive oil consumption
cloud be valve seals

Hi, I've got a Honda 750 four K7 1977. It's got a back pressure problem where it blows oil out of the head breather. took pipe out of air box so it ewould run better, & it does, but still loads coming...

The rings or valve seals are letting the compressed fuel mix escape thereby pressurising the rest of the engine
The froth is old oil mixed with water - drain & flush engine

Engine gets too hot after some running minutes. there is some white liquid over the right cylinder. Can it be water pump?

If the 'white liquid' is like a froth then it is probably water & oil mixed. This happens when there is water in the oil or oil in the water. The usual cause is either the mechanical oil seal behind the water pump leaking or the head gasket leaking. As the right cylinder is covered in this, it is most likely to be the head gasket.
Otherwise it could be that the 'white liquid' is coming from a leaking radiator. If the cooling system is filled with this froth then it wont cool the engine properly.

Hope this helps. If it does then please mark this as 'useful')

Water/oil mixing in 22r engine

yes it can mix, also check the timing cover for rubs from the timing chain. this is the common problem with 22r. many mechanics will tell you its the block but they are just trying to make money.
