Forget the reeds, focus on the intake and exhaust systems to boost performance, these typically require mixture change. Reeds can gain very little.

My yz 125 starts first kick but when im ridding it it wont give full power im getting some smoke and some black oil can you help not been into bikes long

you might want to check your air filter first .. mine was doing the same thing ,.. and i checked the air filter and it was covered in oil so it wasnt getting enough air when i tried to take off ,.. if the air filter looks good , you may want to pull your spark plug and look at it ,.. if it is covered in black it is time for a new one .. or a really good cleaning ,.. i found a wire brush and penetrating oil works well ,.. blow it out with compressed air and wipe off all that you can before you stick it back in ,... other than those i hear the rings are only good for about 20 hours (non-racing)
thats where i would check next ,.. let me know if this helps =D

Why would my 01 yz 125 flood out i just put a third new top end on and it floods out and the piston goes bad

Have you made any airbox or exhaust modifications? (too oily air filter, clogged chamber, dented header)
Are you running stock carby/jets? Using the correct range sparkplug?
Check condition of reeds, they may have relaxed their tension and are remaining open, or been damaged by carbon blowback.
Are you using the right fuel at the correct ratio?
Are your crank seals in good condition (is there any sign of fuel oil weeping from behind magneto?
Are the conrod and crank pins okay? (excessive piston side play or up down freeplay)
Is your ignition providing a healthy spark? (coil condition and good earth)
All these issues can have a bearing on your problem, goodluck.
Cheers!

1 Answer

Pick up

1). smaller front or bigger rear sprocket..
2).aftermarket intake reed and/or pipe..
3). larger aftermarket piston(possibly with better compression ratio).....the cheapest and easiest being the sprocket change(keep in mind you'll have to trade off a little "top end" for that added "pickup")
