Jeep would not start at all 3 weeks ago . As if Battery was Dead. 2 hours later it started right up. Battery was fully charged . Been driving it every day for 3 weeks with no problems and then today it does same thing . No sound whatsoever when turning key over. Lights are fully on and gauges show normal .

if you tap(bang) on the starter when turning the key does the starter motor turn? if yes...time for a new starter, otherwise you have switches, safety switches and relays to consider. make sure electrical connections are tight. a simple check would be to check for 12V at the small wire on the starter when turning the key to start. This will verify your starter circuit is working-sending a signal for the starter to engage.

I just buought a 98 Volvo S70 T5, the car sat for abit, to the point were It had to jump it. to start. ran great for the next 2 hours off and on mybe 7 diffrent starts but it never running for more then...

It could be a number of things:
  • Bad connection or corrosion on battery cables
  • Dead cell in the battery would prevent it from charging fully
  • Bad or worn drive belt would slip, preventing the alternator from fully charging the battery
  • Bad alternator
If the car will run at idle with all accessories turned on, the alternator is good and you should concentrate on the battery and battery cables. If the car won't idle, then the drive belt and/or alternator could be the issue. If the car starts everytime when it's cold and only gives you a problem starting when the engine is hot, the starter could be the issue. A bad starter will often work when it's cold (after sitting a few hours or overnight). When a bad starter gets hot, it takes more and more power to get it to turn over.
Overall, I'd have the electrical system checked out. Most chain auto parts stores (Autozone, Advance Auto) will do a complimentary electrical test for you.

My spouse had to get out 1996 ford explorer boosted while i was at work,so that evening i tested the battery it had a charge of 12.4 and is about 5 years old so i bought a new battery ,i put the new...

A new battery should have approx 12.62 fully charged
It could be slightly more
If you ever see 13 volts, on an old battery, it is gone

You need a min of 12.5, to do any testing of your vehicle, or you charge it
It should hold 12.5 or more for 3 or 4 weeks, then charge, if you let the truck sit
unused.

About 3 weeks ago, the battery in my 2001 chevy lumina died. I wasn't able to drive it for about a week and went out today to do so and the lights came on, dimly, and the car wouldn't start. The battery...

Well, I would charge the battery with a plug in battery charger for about 3 days to make sure it is fully charged.

If the battery doesn't take a charge, then I would replace the battery.

Make sure the connections are shiny, clean and tight at the contact points.

After the battery is charged, then I would have it tested for starting/charging at your local parts store or Sears or Walmart or other battery retailer.

Remember, batteries only last 3 years on average, so if charging it doesn't solve the starting problem, then I would consider buying a new battery for the vehicle.

Good luck on this repair.

The 12 volt battery(LUCAS 065/3) on my FORD FIESTA 1100cc is 4 years old, in that time i have only driven 1,600 miles as my journeys are usually very local. I make sure i use the car twice a week to keep...

Running so few miles has accelerated the aging of the battery - the battery never had a chance to fully recharge in such small trips -  so now you have to replace it a year sooner than usual.
Just replace it.

The Jeep has set for about 6 months. A week ago: battery dead, jumped it but would not start. I replaced the coil, jumped it and it started instantly and ran better than it has in years. Yesterday, I...

Check to see if you have spark at the coil. If you have spark at the coil and no spark at the plug, you probably have a bad distributor cap and/or rotor.

If there is no spark at the coil, you need to find out if there is voltage present at the B+ terminal of the coil.
No B+ could be anything from a bad ASD relay to a broken wire or burned fusible link.

If B+ voltage is present at the coil, the "NO-SPARK" condition could be caused by anything from a bad Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) to a bad Ignition Control Module (ICM) To a bad Electronic Control Unit ((ECU) - AKA Engine Control Module)
