Question about 2001 Suzuki VL 1500 Intruder LC

2 Answers

Was riding my 2001 Suzuki Intruder 1500 yesterday with several starts and stops. Pulled into my last stop shut down the motor went to restart and there was no electrical current. The battery is hot, the main fuse is good. No electrical at all, no lights, no ignition, no nothing. Any ideas?? Thanks, Tom

    You have to be kidding!

  • freelandtc Sep 16, 2010

The battery voltage is 12.6 volts at the battery post and at the primary fuse.

The ignition switch has power (12.6 v) at the plug. The ignition switch continuity check was:

    A. Switch off all resistance 1.0; B. Ignition switch on park (Meter at 200 ohms base reading 0.3 ) red and brown 6.5; 1.0; red and orange/yellow 1.0;red and grey 1.0; red and orange 1.0, C. Ignition switch on red and brown 1.0, red and orange/yellow 98.9, red and grey 1.0. red and orange 0.4, brown and grey 2.2..

Are these small resistances sufficient to kill the switch? If not w3hat should I check next?.

I am sure that you checked the battery connections. But it doesn't hurt to ask. The next step is make sure your ignition switch has power.

I have a 2001 Suzuki 800 Marauder motorcycle. when it gets warmed up after a long ride. When I turn it off, restart it and put it in 1st gear it stops the motor. what,s causing this.

Many of the Suzuki's including Boulevard, Intruder and others have cut off switches in the kick stand. As long as the stand is down the engine will die when shifted into neutral.

Sounds like there is a loose wire some where! You will need to start the bike and start wiggling wires and hope you find where it is loose or broken at. This kind of thing is a **** shoot just keep looking.

I would eliminate the possibility of bad gas first, considering you had just filled up. Move on to the other possibilities after eliminating the simple ones first. Battery, spark plugs, plug wires, other ignition problem, fuel delivery problem.

Suspected problem with choke.

hey apparently and did are two different stories draining the float bowls and cleaning the carbs are two different things the fact that the choke dosent change suggest the carbs are stopped up after sitting for 1 year clean the carbs let them soak in carb cleaner and blow them out with high pressure air, keep notes of the adjustments befor you dissasemble them (air screws)
