97 mercury mountaineering has oil in the radiator and coulant. Help please!

OK, lets figure out what's happening here. You are seeing "oil" in the radiator and coolant. Chances are it is not engine oil. The inly way engine oil can get into a radiator would be if a head gasket was blown. Even then, oil at those locations is not under as much pressure as the coolant is, so when a head gasket blows, what usually happens id that the coolant ends up in the motor oil and oil pan. Verify this by looking at the dipstick to see if it is extremely full. The oil could look like choclate milk. Also, open the oil filler cap and look for signs of chocolate brown goop. I'm betting you won't find that. This is good, but also bad. What you probably have in you coolant is transmission fluid. The transmission oil is circulated through a cooler located inside the radiator. If this cracks or breaks the transmission oil can leak into the coolant. However, at different times the transmission oil and the coolant are at odd with one another pressure-wise. This means that if you have transmission oil in the coolant, you probably have coolant in the transmission oil. This is very very bad, You will need to have the transmission serviced and possible overhauled to repair the damage. You will also need to flush the trans oil from the coolant system. This will require you to replace the radiator, ALL HOSES as well. Coolant hoses do not play well with transmission fluid . The inside of the hose sort of melts and gets real soft and gooey. Changing the hoses and radiator and flushing the motor should work once the transmissionhas been serviced.

Bike smokes when running like it burning oil

Certainly its your oil rings that are worn and needs to be replaced...its an engine rebuild, the rings are located on the pistons inside the engine block.

Hi, i have automatic passat 1999 model and recently water happens to get into the gear box and it control board, i experiences a boom sound anytime the gear is changed, the oil has been changed by the...

If no external leak and the transmission fluid colour looks white, the problem belongs to the automatic gearbox oil cooler. The oil cooler has broke mixing the gearbox oil and coolant causing this milkshake. It's a small radiator core type oil / water heat exchanger. It is cracked inside and transmission oil is mixed with engine coolant. Because the transmission oil pressure is greater than engine coolant pressure, the transmission fluid level drops. See also the coolant colour inside recovery coolant reservoir inder bonnet! It could be like this:

Mercedes c220k cdi automatic gearbox falure gears dont change up when car has warmed up after driving for half hour then have to turn engine of and start after 10 seconds and everything goes back to normal...

There is a wire harness going to the transmission , you may want to check connection at the transmission itself. Right front corner of the trany , just above a/t flud pan , restricted view because of heat shield. But what you looking for is round electrical plug(about 2in diameter) , if you see any oil or wetness on that plug , you need to change plug adapter. Part is about $10 from dealer.Part # A 203 540 02 53.Mercedes call it a pilot bushing. There are two robber o-rings on it, wich getting old and start leaking oil inside electrical connector.Sometimes it may ruin a/t control module TCM.
Hope that may help.

What weight motor oil do i use?

Hello wolfport21: My name is Roger and I will help you. The factory recommended oil is a 15W40 engine oil. I would suggest a low paraffin oil. High paraffin oil caused the rings to stick in the 4.1 engines. If you have a 5.7 engine the oil is the same as the 4.1 engines. Please rate the answer you received. This way we know your answer helped. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

What causes premature wear in the rings and bore of BMW K75s?

I would recommend a leak down test to distinguish if the low compression was due to ring wear or an issue with the valves/seats...cylinders bores dont just wear out from sitting.
It's very possible that the valve seals were worn allowing crankcase oil to seep into the combustion chambers, thus causeing it to smoke. Being a 3 cylinder water cooled engine it should not have an overheating issue to cause the rings to stick...unless it was neglected, and not regularly serviced, debris in the oil filter, low oil pressure.. sludge from worn out oil. A good clean air cleaner is important...bad filtration will cause premature engine wear. Install a K & N high flow filter... and your good for the life of the bike.
Hope this answers your question...good luck with your bike.

I need to know how to change the transmission fluid in my 1998 bravada

There are a few mays to do this, you could take it to the transmission shop and have them service it or you can do it your self. If you want to replace the transmission fluid and filter you have to drop the transmission oil pan, your going to have to remove the oil pan bolts and shifter linkage to the 4X4 and once the pan is off. Just pull off the oil filter from the valve body and replace the O ring with  the new O rings to ensure the new filter will not fall off from the valve body and then re-install the everything in revers. Once the pan is back on refill the transmission with AFT and test drive. The other way you can drain the system with out the filter replacement is to disconnect the transmission line at the radiator on the passenger side, top by the radiator cap. Connect a hose to the line to a large bucket and start the engine, the fluid will drain fast so be ready to turn the engine off so you don't burn out the front pump. you can also judge how much fluid is in the transmission by the amount of fluid is collected in the bucket. Note: make sure you have a large bucket. Once you think you have drained enough transmission fluid, turn the engine off and re-install the transmission line to the radiator and refill the transmission with AFT.
Automatic Transmission, 4L60-E Initial Fill..........4.7 liters
Automatic Transmission, Total Fill  4 speed 4L60-E..........10.6 liters

Good luck and hope this helps. Keep me posted, be glad to answer any questions you may have.

95 geo manual tranny have had problem down shifting to 1st gear for couple months now 2nd is getting hard to downshift and upshift have replaced rubber bushings bolts etc.on shift linkage adjusted etc.

Sounds like your synchronization rings inside the tranny are wearing out try changing the transmission oil and adding product like lucas oil treatment , if it helps lay off the downshifting until your ground speed matches your engine speed for the gear your ring to go in. like really slow speeds ...
