Hi, Paul "ABSOLUTELY" no problemo for this scenario you will need your service/owners manual if you can't find the first and best tool you ever bought for your Yamaha, despair not, for a mere zero $ you can download another one. My 94 suzuki RF600R will make a clicking sound and the lights will dim . The clicking sounds electrical and like it is coming from where the coil is or close to it on the left side of the bike.

check or have a bike electrician check for a voltage regulator problem
it indicates that the points are faulty and the dim light is running on the battery and not the alternator

Rf600r tighten chain

Chains are tightened by extending the chain bar. Loosen the two bolts holding the chain bar, move the bar away from the engine body and hold it upward (bar should be angled upward slightly) before tightening the bolts back down.

Cam chain tensioner tighten

Remove the tank to access the top cover of the engine so the chain is accessible, hold the adjuster bolt, loosen the lock nut, then carefully take the slack out but not too tight, then tighten the lock nut to secure the assembly. replace the top cover gasket and the cover, and re-install the tank.

Hello Camron, i would not recommend the hot wire procedure. If you spike the controller it could do a lot of damage. Plus the stator & rectifier are not working properly. You can replace the ignition switch, that comes with 2 new keys cheaper than a locksmith will make one, in most cases. Here are a couple of links for ignition switches that will fit your bike.
I hope this helps.

Adjusting cam chain on 1980 susuki gs motocycle neen to know the proper proseedure to acjust chain

there should be no adjusting cause it is spring loaded .. if you have after market adjuster ! take the side cover off . you want to turn the crankshaft by hand . once you have done this . then have the nut free on the adjuster .roll crankshaft around wile hand tightening the adjuster .. you only want it hand tight. then tighten the nut . if you still hear chain slap ! tighten another 1/4 turn .. and that should be it !!
