I have a 2001 kawasaki ke 100. The problem i am having is my headlights are dim. i have replaced the battery, and check the grounds on the frame of the bike. whenever i hit my brake or turn on my turn signals the headlight gets brighter. so is it the voltage regulator of the stator or faulty wiring?

I dont think its the stator or regulator. If it gets brighter when you put the indicators on or apply the brake light, it sounds very much like the headlamp is using their return to earth. I know you have checked the grounds (earth), but often the grounds or earths are linked up within the loom.
Do you have a wiring diagram? If so, identify which is the earth return for the headlight and run a direct feed back to the battery negative. If this produces a bright light, you will know there is a problem in the loom.
You could just wire a new earth into the system or start cleaning all the little connectors.
good luck

1984 kawasaki zn 700a my headlight will not work, tested headlight it works fine with spare battery but will not work when installed in bike. Does the bike have to be running for the light to work?

Hi, Jon if your headlight is not working, only one beam works, keeps burning out, blinking, dim or surges from bright to dim to bright the first thing you need to check is the headlight bulb for damaged filaments then check your light circuit fuse, then check your head light bulb socket ground wire for a clean tight connection, that being said the usual suspects are:
1. Faulty ground or power supply wire to headlight bulb socket.
2. Worn down solder contacts or loose fit of the bulb base in the socket due to vibration.
3. Worn, chafed, or broken wires in the light circuit.
4. Corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets in wire connectors.
5. Faulty hi/low beam switch.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Fuse is good but no continuity on both sides.
8. Faulty headlight relay.
9. Faulty wiring between battery positive and headlight bulb socket.
10. Weak charging alternator/generator/lighting coil
11. Faulty voltage regulator/rectifier ground or overcharging.

My instrument lights and headlights pulsate especially when driving

I would say no to reg or alt ,when you apply brakes there is dimming and that sounds like a negitive grounding problem not at battery, the dimming is caused from a back feed of ground possible.there are what are called body ground straps from battery to body panels and frame.as far as bat or alt advanced auto and most auto parts stores will be glad to check them out for FREE ,good luck

Hi i have a really old Kawasaki ke 100cc that i fixed up. but is is too damaged to have the lights and indicators. i want to know how to wire the bike up with just the (magneto) cords from the engine to...

no headlight and no start. the starter switch is bad. the switched needs to be removed and cleaned and also the guides for the shunt need to be fixed. the overheating of the switch melts the plastic guides and prevents the shunt from sliding up and down. it sticks in the down position and stops the headlight ans starter from working. when you get the switch working again you should put your headlight on a relay to remove the power draw through the switch. I have a 2001 cavalier with a dim driver side headlight. Have changed the bulb, DRL relay and headlight switch. Removed the ground cable from the battery tray, cleaned ground cable and battery tray contact...

Give this a try------get a piece of wire and strip both ends, the black wire coming out of the plug on the head light, stick one end of the wire in there and the other end to a good ground or the negative battery terminal with the lights on, if the light gets brighter, there is a bad ground to that light. I hope this helps, cause you have just done about everything else.

If you have dim headlights most likely cause is a bad ground. ck the black wire at the headlight bulb with test light connected to battery pos +12 v if test light does not light or is dim than you have a bad ground wire that needs to be repaired

I have a fisher minute mount and one headlight dim

A poor ground. Check the ground wire inside the light housing itself and then make sure it is getting a good ground where it mounts to the plow frame. Hope this helps.

Headlights and dash lights dim

I just had found the solution to my dash light problem. The ground between the battery neg pole and the car frame was bad (broken battery holder) That ground signal also goes to the motor (that connexion was good) but the connection between the frame of the car and the neg pole of the battery was intermittent.
