What does the "tick" sound like?? The R-RT is an air/oil cooled engine and some noise is normal. If noise is very loud, it could indicate a problem with valve train or any number of other things.

Does noise stop when you pull clutch in with trans. in neutral?

When were the valves last checked/adjusted? Was rocker arm end play checked as well as valve clearance?

Sorry, more questions than answers

Tick when warm 2000 chev 4.3

Try using a lighter weight oil as the temperature gets colder outside the oil becomes thicker and takes more time for the more defeat the oil so that it may and pump up into the valves and etc most vehicles will tick until the oil warms and will go away ....also a higher grade of gas will also help

99 cavalier motor work fine and sound good when the motor is cold when it warms up there is a tick in it sounds like a lifter the tick comes from left side of the motor

I would start with an engine oil flush and fill. If that doesn't help then you may need to replace the lifter that has lost its prime. This is usually caused from poor oil flow to the lifters. Hope this answered your question. Good luck.

I have a 97 Excell Hyundai which has a ticking noise in the motor. It is the twin cam motor and runs fine. Any ideas on what the ticking noise is?

easiest way is just to use a heavier weight motor oil .... if you are in a climate that is always warm/hot ... switch to 40W ... or you can add a can of STP engine oil treatment.
