Hi, Lyn I am truly sorry that 175 ponies doesn't tie your sneakers, however, there are ways to guarantee your next speeding ticket the usual basics are performance cam, larger injectors, free flow air cleaner, performance exhaust, and a fuel tuner if necessary or you could trade it in for a 2008 or later Busa for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. Hi, Michael to avoid premature engine wear and damage this condition should be eliminated "ASAP" and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel octane rating too low.
2. Compression too high due to excessive carbon deposit buildup on top of the piston, top of the cylinder bore, and cylinder head dome.
3. Engine overheating due to lack of lubrication, coolant, or lack of cool air passing by top end cooling fins due to accessories or bike not moving.
4. Engine under heavy load due to riding double overweight luggage etc.
5. Fuel-air mixture too lean or too rich.
6. Outside air temperature too hot for the load (dessert).
7. Faulty knock sensor.
8. Electronic ignition timing too far advanced due to faulty sensor inputs (MAP, CKP, CMP)
9. Points plate too far advanced or mechanical advance mechanism worn out.
10. Blocked exhaust causing excessive backpressure.
11. Incorrect spark plugs for the kind of service causing overheated tip.

Even spark plugs when is to hot they create that problem give less advance on timing full up high octane fuel with injector cleaner fluid in site full tank give time to clean the cylinders for 250 k check your cooling system not rise temperature clean the air filter check your exhaust air flow when you exhilarate your engine make shore is not same blockage .

Fuel query for a car

you can get 91 octane , ethanol free and that is suitable for the engine
you can get 91 octane with 10% ethanol which will also be suitable for the engine
the higher octane rating fuels will also run in the engine and there will be a slight increase in performance but the increase is not cost effective as against standard 91
personally as ethanol is hygroscopic( absorbs moisture from the air) I would not recommend it's use in any fuel in a car that is not inconstant use such as a taxi where the fuel turn over is high

99 yz125 burning off piston edge at high rpms

Higher octane fuel is needed from what you describe. Without knowing where you are located and how hard you ride the bike, it's impossible for anyone to offer any jetting advice. Higher octane fuel will likely help, but if you (or a previous owner perhaps) have shaved the head for higher compression, you might have to run higher octane racing fuel.

Also - check to make sure the pipe is sealed well at the head pipe connection - if not, it will **** air at high RPM and can cook your piston.

Check also for leaking crank seal on the flywheel side (left) which can also **** air but will normally be accompanied by a very irradic idle.

I just installed a KR Tuned exhaust on my 2008 gsxr 600. The FI light stays on after putting on the full exhaust.

did you replace the o2 sensor?, might need a remap of the ECU to find the right fuel mixture. Change the air filter, K&N or something similar to get more air in. bunch of possibilities really

Motorcycle running a little hot

The fan comes on around 212, when you put a full exhaust, the bike needs more fuel it needs a remap. They say that the stock computer can be flashed but you need a power commander and a BMC race air filter
