How to test to see if head gasket is blown on CBR 600

Hi, Noah you need to have a "leak down" test performed relatively inexpensive for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. If necessary, transport your bike to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your problem. 1990 Honda cbr 600 f1 blowing white smoke but not the head gasket.

Is it really smoke? (oil problem) ... or might it be steam? (head gasket or other water jacket trouble) If it is smoke it will smell like smoke and linger in the air. This would also account for the dripping oil. Do a compression test to rule out rings. DOUBLE CHECK THE LUBRICANT YOU ARE USING ... USE ONLY THE GRADE AND WEIGHT RECOMMENDED BY Honda for your CBR 600.

Hi, Hegelp3 and the usual suspects are:
1. Low coolant level.
2. Restricted radiator air flow.

4. Coolant pump or fans inoperative.
5. Vent hose crimped.

My 2001 yz250 is leaking alot og gear oil when idoling out of a hose coming out the bottom of the bike then wen i shut it off it starts leaking coolent out of another line coming out the bottom of the bike...

The leaking coolant is a sure fire sign that you likely have a blown head gasket or your water pump is not pumping water any longer and the bike is overheating.

The leaking oil could be coming from your power valve vent - is it pitch black oil and is it coming from the front of the engine?

What color is the oil? Are you sure its gear oil? Is the gear oil milky and foamy? Is the gear oil level high or low? Is there water in the oil?

Sorry for all the questions - there are several things that could be happening here.

Can i use castrol gtx2 oil on my cbr 600?

I would not recommend using an Automotive Oil in your bike. Make sure the oil has a JASO rating,
this rating is obtained by the additives and breakdown of the oil. It is designed for the high RPMs of Metric and sport bikes. Use a 10w40 major brand such as Honda Pro oil.

1995 Honda CBR 600 F(3)S misfires under load

Hi, Mbporsche911 and the usual suspects are:
1. Severely discharged or a damaged battery should have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a cursory reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead-acid batteries.
2. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
3. Spark plugs in bad condition or partially fouled.
4. Spark plug cables in bad condition and leaking check for spark leakage in the dark
5. Spark plug gap too close or too wide.
6. Faulty ignition coil, module, and or sensor.
7. Loose, dirty, or corroded ignition module connector at crankcase.
8. Faulty CKP or CMP, MAP, ETS, ATS, TPS, O2 sensor.
9. Dirty air filter.
10. Intake air leak.
11. Water, dirt, or rust in the fuel system.
12. Carburetor contaminated, sticky float, plugged jets.
13. Carburetor has oil in the bowl due to excessive oil in pre-mix.
14. Carburetor vacuum diaphragm torn, cracked, not seated or installed improperly.
15. Multiple carburetors out of sync.
16. Fuel filter clogged.
17. Old or contaminated fuel.
18. Fuel tank vent system plugged or carb vent line closed off.
19. Gas cap diaphragm valve faulty.
20. Vacuum line from intake manifold to fuel valve is broken, cracked, pinched, or missing.
21. Carburetor controls misadjusted.
22. Incorrect valve timing.
23. Valve springs floating, weak, or broken.
24. Damaged intake or exhaust valve.
25. Incompatible performance parts.
26. Control module may be in "LIMP" mode
27. Check for engine trouble codes.
