I would start by pulling the spark plug and check for spark. If you have spark, then I would check for fuel. You might spray a small amount of starting fluid in the air filter. If it starts then you will know that it is a fuel problem. How long has the fuel been sitting in the carbs? Gas turns to varnish after a year. And will really gum up your carbs.

My 95 for escort turns over but won't start.

First check the oil level. It has a low oil sensor that will disable ignition if more than a quart low. What changed? check fuel pump relay and fuses. Change fuel filter. Try cheapest fixes first to avoid buying parts you don't need. Approach this problem logically ie. age (1995) and what changed. Perform an OBDII scan for stored fault history.

Try removing the air filter and cleaning it. It may have excess oil on it from when the bike fell over. If the bike laid on its side for awhile you may have to replace the filter depending on how much oil it soaked up.

Oil filter is on the right (starboard) front lower side of the engine case behind a plate with three fasteners holding it on. Strongly recommend using OEM filter as replacement. Strongly suggest you get with someone who has an "airhead" BMW and have them mentor you with the filter change process. Doing it IS easy. Doing it wrong can ruin you engine in short order.

Start sequence? "Choke" on, bike in neutral, clutch in, engine cut off switch in run position, turn key and use throttle as needed to keep it running. Have fun - great bike. Go to for lots of info.

Try changing your spark plugs, this should get you started but also drain out old fuel a put fresh fuel in, use a fuel system cleaner like redex etc in a couple of tanks of fuel.

I change the oil in my bike an now it will not start

Remove spark plugs, try turning it over. I f it won't budge try pouring a few tea spoonfuls of wd40 or mystery marvel oil and let it set for an hour and repeat again. After several hours try and see if it will turn over or not. If it turns over reinstall the plugs and start it up. Your rings on the piston have stuck just enough to seize the engine. It should free up if you keep repeating the procedure. After you have it running, shut it down and replace the oil again.

Genral oil change

Look for the oil dip stick. Now look under underneath the area of bike where the dip stick is. You'll see a round disc with a bolt. That is the drain plug. Now you found it lets begin.
1. Warm the bike up.
2. Turn bike off.
3. Take oil dip stick out.
4. Have your oil pan under the bike
5.. Unbolt drain plug. A spring and screen will come out keep them together.
6. After oil finished draining. Make sure Screen is clean before replacing back in with the spring.
7. Start the bolt in by hand then finish with tightening with socket.
8. Put oil dip stick back in. you're ready to go!

It takes 15W 40 ( .9 liters) Don't forget to press yes if this was helpful : )
