Noises coming from the inside of an engine are not good. Someone needs to pull the right side engine cover and look at the clutch, crankshaft drive gear and kick gear. It sounds like something has come loose.

Why is engine clacking and clanging on start up and hard to start but sounds perfect after started?

Sounds like lack of oil in the top end, IE: lifters valve train. Checked your oil? Using what's recommended for that engine?

Ford f250 5.4engine seized

Sounds like "timing chain" issues. If this is a 2004-2008 vehicle(V-8) there were parts called "Cam Phasers" on DOHC engines that were a problem. Use the term "Cam Phasers" with a Websearch and see if this applies to you.

There are different approaches to fixing this. This "clang" is concerning. To start, drain the oil and see if there are metal chips or shavings coming out with the oil. If yes, just pull the engine and then break down the engine. If no metal shavings, you may only need to remove the front half of the motor to investigate the timing chain. Or remove the valve covers to see if one of the two camshafts snapped.

You might try using a breaker bar and grab the crankshaft bolt and turn the crankshaft the opposite way to see if the engine will free up or the bolt unscrews.

Delica diesel '98 space gear 2.8 turbo diesel. We are second owner 180,000 km. Problem is black exhaust when first starting up and then once accelerating between 80 to 100 km/ph no smoke. When decelerating...

I think you have leaking injectors, after shut off raw fuel dips into cylinders and then on start causews the black smoke unitil it is burned off. Any dealer has the equipment to leak test the system.

Making a clanging sound started up and smoke came throught the vents, belt came off and liquid was all over

sounds to me someone didn't have the required coolent added to the engine, it has frozen and busted your engine block, waterpump, etc. The smoke is probably steam from the busted heatercore. Expect to replace most everything that is engine coolent related, possibly even the engine if the block has busted.

Clanging noise while running

A rhythmic metal on metal noise in an engine usually follows a classic rule: valves tap and pistons knock. If the noise is rhythmic with the speed of the engine and incrementally increases when the engine speeds up, then it is one of these two issues. All you need to answer in this case is whether your noise is a tap or a knock. On the other hand, if the clanging sounds more like an old diesel engine and increases in volume when the engine accelerates, then the problem is pre-ignition. If the problem is simply pre-ignition, then you will need to check your ignition system, including the knock sensor, crank sensor, and all your spark plugs and coils. This is the simplest thing to do first. Unplug each coil one at a time to verify that the engine loses power for each one. Valve tap can be caused by lifters or a broken valve spring. To diagnose this, you need to remove the valve cover and check the lifters. Are any loose when you try to move them up and down by hand? Engine knock signals that your engine needs to be rebuilt with new piston rods and bearings. It is not a good idea to drive very long with either condition or you could end up causing more damage and get stuck on the side of the road.

2000 gmc sierra 6cyl, my husband started our truck drove up the road to the neighbors he left it running to warm up when he came out it had died and wont restart. it is getting fire and when you try...

It is gas related because it started. Check the fuel pump, pump fuse, relay, or reset button. Check your fuel filter. Make sure your gas lines are good and check your fuel injectors. Your problem is with the fuel, so you shouldn't have to worry about anything else, just the fuel components. Your engine is not getting gas. Check all these things and you will find your problem.

Loud clanging noise

It sounds like you need a new engine, the connecting rod bearing may have spun and there is to much play now and the oil journals may not be lined up causing the bearing to be starved of oil. Regard less it's going to be an expensive repair since your going to have to tear the whole engine and replace all the warn and damaged parts. Sorry about the bad news.

Clacking on start up

This is valve lifter/follower noise, run a can of engine flush Have the pro's do this) through the engine, then change the oil, it might help, but as long as it goes away quickly it will not cause any harm, just annoying.
