No trick - just turn the key fully left at the mark and it should unlock. If you can't do that then the key hub is defective and that might be a reason why the previous owner sold the bike. In that case you will have to replace the entire key hub.

If shop bought, go to them...
If other (2nd hand etc) Email Manufacturers customer services.

Replace all fluids including any hydraulic fluids.
Fit new spark plugs and strip down carburettor cleaning the jets especially the main jet. If corroded at all, replace the corroded jets.

Suzuki Verona 2004 Problem - I can't get the ignition switch to turn. I understand it could be a bad ignition switch, a bad brake pedal switch or a bad neutral safety switch. Are there any tricks to try...

can you move the wheel from side to side to relieve the pressure for the key to turn ? also try pushing in on it a bit harder too as you do this it may be just in the locked position due to pressure at the wheel

Is there a fee to ask ?

Now and then the gear shifter does not push up all the way to the park position locking up the ignition switch. Try moving the gear shifter up as far as you can to the park position and see if the key's will turn. Your ignition switch is a pass lock system ($$$$) and you don't want to be drilling that out unless you are will to replace it before you try to get the key's to work again. Keep me posted and let me know if that helped, if not i can give you the instructions to removing the ignition cylinder.

DR 200 runs really cold. Takes about 15 minutes or so to warm up

It depends on the tempature, if its pretty chilly out yeah. Try easing the choke in slowly, and when it will idle at about half choke go aheand and take off but run the bike easy for a few minutes then close the choke.
