The tube is for overflow. The float is stuck open ( or partly open ) and the overflow prevents all the extra gas from running into the engine. The carb needs to be cleaned.

2007 saturn aura, engine service code P0442, with a new gas cap, what else could it be?

2carpros has this to say about Po442
A code P0442 most likely means one or more of the following has happened:

•A loose or improperly affixed gas cap
•A non-conforming gas cap (i.e. not factory/original brand)
•A small leak/hole in a fuel vapor hose/tube
•Other small leak in EVAP system
•Faulty vent o-ring seal

Possible Solutions With a P0442, the most common repair is to:

•Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the codes, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back.
•Otherwise, replace the gas cap, or
•Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses

if the flame is not a clear blue, rather an orange/blue or orange, the gas is not being completely combusted, either the burner orfice tube needs cleaning or the air to gas ratio is off and needs more air intake and this can be adjusted also

Not getting gas out to ignition, no smell, no sound, tried two brand new bottles..

There is a jet inside the gas tube. This will be under the table portion, on the gas tank side of the little cutout in the tube. Make sure this is clear of obstructions, bugs & whatnot.

P0455 is a EVAP system leak detected code check to make sure your gas cap is tight or if you put gas in it while it was running and can set it . First tighten the gas cap then clear the code and drive and see if the code comes back.

Evap leak in fuel

Remove the gas cap and re-install it making sure that you hear it click several times. What your evap leak could be is the gas cap allowing gas fumes to escape. All it takes is a .040 leak to turn on the engine light. If it persists you'll have to have the emission system smoke tested. What happens is the system is literally filled with smoke and the leak will be found by where the smoke comes from.
