Question about 2003 Harley Davidson FLSTF Fat boy

Just had a screamin eagle race tuner installed and dyno driving bike at 40mph down road and then it shuts off , can fire back up but have to keep giving it throttle, then all the sudden its fine, replaced igniton as suggested was ok for a few days now back to same thing this is 03 fat boy

Hi Carolb656, and the usual suspects are:
1. Severely discharged or damaged battery.
2. Loose, corroded or broken battery cable.
3. Alternator not charging or below normal rates.
4. Failed ignition coil, ignition/electronic module.
5. Failed CKP, CPS, CMP, MAP, TPS, or BAS sensor.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Water or dirt in fuel system, carburetor or filter.
8. Fuel tank vent system plugged or gas cap not venting.
9. Fuel tank empty.
10. Fuel valve vacuum line broken or carburator vent line closed off.
11. Restricted, blocked or kinked fuel line.
12. Failed fuel pump, pressure regulator and or fuel injectors.

Probably not .... Run it about 100 miles and pull the plugs... if they look OK ( not ash white for too hot or black for too much fuel) you should be OK ....

Approximately 95 lb-ft torque and 80 horsepower, measured at the rear wheel by Dynojet. Harley publishes to produce 114 ft lbs of torque at 3500 rpm stock measured at the engine. They are both right.

How do I Reprogram ECM with Screamin Eagle EFI race tuner kit (pn 32107-01E) WITHOUT DYNO.

You can use a laptop or desktop computer to reprogram the ECM. If you do this, you will be changing the maps in the computer. The maps may or may not properly tune the bike, depending on accessories such as air cleaner and exhuast, and what modifications, if any, were made to the engine., Dyno tuning is the way to go. It monitors air flow, fuel flow, exhaust gasses, etc. Air and fuel can be added and/or deleted from any part of the map for the most efficient operation. Not using a dyno is just guessing and you could make the bike run worse.

My local HD dealer just installed a HD race tuner, a air cleaner kit and a set of Vance+Hynes true dual exhaust and dyno-tuned on my 2008 Road Glide, $1600.00 parts+labor . I bought the bike from them used...

Take it to another dealer. Dealers usually will not warranty any type of performance work. I find it difficult to see why the exhaust would cause the vibration. Just make sure the exhaust is supported properly to the frame. I would however suspect the race tuner. If the tuner is not adjusted correctly it will cause the engine to run poorly. It may even cause the engine to overheat. I'd suspect the igniton timing. Take it to another dealer or to an aftermarket that has a "good dyno man".

Now, there are two types of dyno-tunes. One, is actually not a dyno tune but more of a dyno run up. Regrettfully, this is what most dealers do. They install a bunch of stuff and then put your bike on the dyno, run it up, and get a print out of the horsepower and torque, that's it. This is simply a run up. The charge us usually about $35 - $50 or so.

Now a true dyno tune is totally different. The run up is just the beginning to establish a baseline. Then changes are made to your race tuner, intake, fuel map, timing settings, and exhaust to get the highest horsepower and torque out of your bike. You are usually charged "X" amount of dollars to begin with and then some much per hour. I've seen a good dyno man work on a bike for several hours changing jetting and such on the bikes and believe me, if the guy does what he's supposed to do, you can feel the difference. Bad part is a "good dyno man" is very hard to find.

I've got a Screamin Eagle 29440-99D Air Cleaner that I'd like to install on my 2003 FLHTPI. I didn't get the instructions when I bought it on Ebay. It's new with all the parts, except the instructions and...

In this situation I'd just go ahead and fit the air filter simply because the major change required after fitting it would be to the jetting(not the EMC).
Then when they dyno tune it they will probably also use an infra-red gas analysis unit to check the jetting, as again the jetting will be affected by the different cams or exhaust you are having fitted.

I hope you are speaking of the ECM, otherwise my advice may not be of any value. First if you have any modifications to the bike such as pipes & air cleaner, etc. then your issue would be magnified. The information in your "computer" as it relates to how the bike runs is called a MAP. The map defines idle speed, desired air fuel ratio (AFR), rev limit, monitors O2 sensor information, and much, much more. So if the MAP is say for a stock bike and yours has pipes, etc. then it will run poorly. I would call the dealer that replaced the part for you and ask if they downloaded the right MAP for your bike.
Without special equipment (i.e Screamin Eagle Race Tuner SERT) you cannot make changes yourself.

Setting the timing 2002 road king fuel injected. My 2002 road king police bike with fuel injection pops back through the intake, also will miss around 2000 rpms when riding through town at a slow steady...

Your bike's timing can only be adjusted through an interface to your ECM like the Screamin Eagle Race Tuner. Have you made any changes to the exhaust or intake? Have you added and aftermarket item like a Power Commander? changes in these areas could account for the problem you are having. hope this helps.

Idel adjustment on fuel injected road king. Not on a carburated system.

Idle adjustment is through the ECM and factory set. If you are having idle issues there are potentionally a number of reasons why*. If you are just wanting to change your idle speed then you would need to purchase an interface such as the Screamin Eagle Race Tuner.

*IAC - Idle Air Control motor
Throttle Position Sensor
Injector malfunction
Intake Air Temperature Sensor

Just to name a few.

First what other mods are you considering other than pipes? Second depending on your mods you may just want to stick with your stock ECM and touch base will your local Harley shop about downloads or MAPS available for the mods (for the ECM) you want to perform on the bike. The Screamin Eagle Race Tuner (SERT) is always an option. Open or closed loop, up to you, do you want the bike to adjust to your target AFR (Air Fuel Ratio) on the fly according to the bikes needs or do you want to set the AFR based on static items. Like today's weather you may make ajustments to get 13.5 AFR, come fall and cooler drier temps...your AFR WILL be something else.

I need the timing speecs for a 05 roadking anyone?

I am taking it that this is an EFI bike? Your timing specs are contained in the MAP your ECM uses to control AFR and timing at various RPM and conditions. You would have to purchase the Screamin Eagle Race Tuner (SERT) to read this information. Unless you are using an after market controller (fuel and or timing) device.
If you are looking to make this timing adjustment very careful, burned pistons, etc. cost a whole lotta money to fix.
