Question about 2003 Ducati ST4

1 Answer

On my 2000 ST4, the cooling fan runs when the ignition is turned on with the engine cold. After switching off and on once or twice it stops. Disconnecting the temperature sensor does not stop the fan running. I have checked wiring for chafing etc.

My Jeep cherokee fan motor run, when ignition switch is off,but does not run when engine is running.why?

the fans are there to cool the engine but once you stop the car the temperature is not being cooled by movement of air and water circulation via the water pump so the fan cuts in for a short time to stop the temperatures causing damage. when driving the air cools the motor enough to keep it a t the right temp no air movement no cooling.

Cooling fan keeps running after engine turned off on a 1996 ef ford falcon

Some fans do keep running after engine is switched off for a short period of time (up to 5 minutes) Check with a service person (ford) to see if that is the case or if you have a faulty sensor.

Car will not start, no power with turn of the key. I have a 2000 Olds Silhouette In last 4 days it stopped once after a turn but restarted and on two occasions I have had to reset my clock. My air...

First, check the battery connections to be sure they are tight and clean.
This could be tough because it is intermittent. If the car stopped while running, this helps, because it suggests the problem is in the ignition circuit rather than the starter circuit. Could be ignition switch, or any of the wiring related. I have had this happen twice and it was a failing ignition switch. But also check the relays in the ignition circuit - these are easier to replace.

I'm not familiar with your car exactly, but usually the second fan is the air conditioning fan. Turn off the a/c, and see if this causes the fan to shut off.

New heatercore but no heat flushed system out but still no heat the dash gets hot but very little heat comes out when on for awhile the fan works just blows cold air

Did you run engine from cold, with heater on when you refilled the system? Try again, rad cap off, with heater on, and let engine get up to operating temperature, make sure you have good flow through rad ,leave cap off, until rad fan comes on to cool returning coolant to rad at least twice. Give engine a little extra rev, for 5 seconds or so, every once in a while to make sure flow getting through heater core, and add coolant as necessary. See if that helps, as it may just be an airlock in system. If your cooling system has any bleed screws incorporated, crack them once in a while as well.

AC blows cold while moving, and gets warmer while I'm stopped

There are two fans behind the radiator. One is suppose to begin running when the AC is turned on. The other is to cool the radiator when it gets too warm. Raise the hood with the engine running and AC "on"and see if at least one fan is running.

AUXILIARY FAN ALWAYS ACTIVATED

if you have your a/c or defrost on the fan will come on as the a/c cuts it on to cool condensor.
if they are not on then you have a relay sticking or someone has rewired the fan
