Front .1-1.7mm and Rear .2-1.5mm Anything within this range is OK.

However, most of the newer bikes have no provision to adjust the sensor gap.

Good Luck!

Hoe do I fix the ABS and the EPS lights that are on ?

You will need to have the ABS module scanned for codes. This will need to be done with another end scan tool/code reader. Once you know what the codes are you will have a much better idea of what the problem is and what needs to be done to fix it.

If the light comes on when you start the vehicle and goes out and stays out until you start to move it is usually a speed sensor issue. Whether it is the sensor itself, the air gap between the sensor and the exciter ring, or a bad exciter ring.

If it comes on when you start the car and never goes out than that indicates that the ABS system has failed its self check. We then know that it is not an air gap or exciter ring issue and can focus on sensors, motors, solenoids, and modules as possible causes.

air gap on rear abs sensor reluctor rings fouling sensors due to corroded swollen rings. add washers under sensors .make sure all tyres are correct size/aspect ratio e.t.c also front abs sensor leads part of sensor i think are suspect, check fault codes in abs module if it a comparsion fault code its more than likley the rear reluctor ring air gaps

ABS warning light stays on

Did you check the brake fluid level?

You may have either a bad ring gear which the sensor picks up the signal from - or a bad sensor for the ABS - I'd pull each wheel and inspect for missing teeth on the gear the sensor reads off off - and look for bad wires on a sensor - perhaps one is not gapped right.

Seek service manual for propper gapping on the sensor to the ring gear. Worst case scenario - ABS accumulator/pump could be faulty. Be advised that whils this ABS light is alluminated - the ABS is not activated - you are on BASE brakes only and most likely your traction control (ESP or TCS) is disabled as well.

I highly doubt it's going to be anthing more then a wheel speed sensor or indicator (ring gear). Disconnect your cables battery to reset the ECU for 5 minutes, then plug it back in, that'll clear whatever codes you have, if the error returns... then you should really look into it.

Hope this helps.

2000 escort abs is engaging everytime the brakes are depressed, then the abs light cones on then the brakes work normally, with out abs . Thanks joe

Joe, check the brakes. This happens when cylinders or pistons freeze and you are actually only braking with partial brakes being applied, which leads to lock up, which invokes ABS.

Look for damaged or worn abs sensor wires at the wheels. Also, metal flakes sometimes alter input singals.

I have a 1997 gmc jimmy. the abs unit locks up between 7mph and 5mph and the brakes stop working.

There was a recall on the ABS system on your truck. The problem was the ABS sensor on the front wheels were getting dirty and corroded causing a faults signal to the ABS module. The fix was to inspect the ABS sensor and clean them with brake parts cleaner and re-gap the sensor to the speed ring on the hub. The ABS sensor and speed ring is on the inside of the front wheel hub, spry brake parts cleaner and re-gap the sensor to the speed ring with paper folded 5 times. I feeler gauge will work but put a paper between the sensor and gauge cause the sensor is magnetic and the gauge will stick. Look for damages to the lead wire to the abs, but i think that's all fine since you did not mentioned any abs light on. You may be even lucky with just a good spray of the brake parts cleaner. Good luck and keep me posted.

Good chance that the ABS sensor need to be adjusted to the speed ring on the hub. it's a common thing that happens when the brakes has been service and the technician did not measure the gap between the sensor and speed ring on the hub. Clean the speed ring on the hubs and measure the gap the the ABS sensor to the speed ring and double check the wire harness. inspect for any damages like corrosion. The gap should be 0.005 to 0.050 inch (0.127mm to 1.270mm), use a brass feeler gauge so it wont stick to the magnetic abs sensor. Good luck and hope this helps.

01 impala can a bad front hub bearing cause the abs light to come on?

Yes it can if the hub has lot's of play but you will have drive issues first. Check the ABS sensor for broken wire, dirt, and the gap to the speed ring on the hub. You can clean the the ABS sensor with brake parts cleaner with out removing it, just a good spray should to the trick and check the gap from the sensor to the speed ring. You can use a dime as a reference for the gap to make sure you have the right gap and make sure the ABS wire harness is not damages in any way. Good luck and hope this helps, also check the fuse to the ABS system. If there is a Auto Zone have the can scanned since it's fee of charge just to make sure it's not the ABS module that has gone bad.

This is caused by excessive ABS sensor air gap. You might need to adjust the air gap on the speed sensor to the new cv shaft.

Sounds as if you have a false activation of the ABS system.
If the light does not come on until you are driving then the ABS module is probably seeing a difference in wheel speed from side to side. It could be caused by different size tires, are all your tires the same size and brand? It could be caused by one tire having low tire pressure. It could also be one of the sensor rings esp. on the front has maybe cracked and slipped out of place causing the air gap between the sensor and the ring to be larger than it is suppose to be.The gap between sensor and ring is usually 0.045 of an inch sometimes the ring which is pressed onto the outer CV joint will crack and the ring will slid up the joint slightly away from the sensor. This will decrease the amplitude of the sensor signal and ABS interputs this as a wheel trying to slip or lock up and activates the ABS.When ABS activates it will make a loud pulsing type sound and it will almost feel like it is not going to stop.
