The fuel mixture is probably running too lean. Old, hardened rubber seals between the carb and the cylinder are letting un-carbureted air into the fuel/air mix.

sounds like the throttle/ accelerator cable is stuck or the return spring broken. open the bonnet (hood) and observe the carureta whilst some one presses the accelerator.does it move back and forth with the pedal? check for kinked cable, lubricate cable. had return spring broke?

Why my 206 starts fine but after driving it starts to rev it self

Does it settle down thereafter? Have you tried lubricating the linkages and the cables linked to your accelerator pedal?

My accelerator cable on my Victa V40 appears to be looser now so when I pull the cord off choke the revs no longer increase, how do I fix it?

hi.. the thottle cable has round end has poped out of its cam housing(gray plastic) inside the plastic carby... the only way to fix that is to remove the carby, but before you do clean your mower as you will create more issues if dirt/grass gets into the parts you will be working on...also take pictures before you start taking thing off, so you know how to reassemble it, as the carby will need to be taken apart....good luck

Have Honda CT110cc postie bike starts and runs well however when warmed up and choke auto off will not idle. Checked air filter/plug/fresh petrol/carby is clean jets etc. Also revs excessively without...

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak between the carby and the head. Check the O ring that is between the carb and manifold. Replace if it doesn't sit proud of the locating groove.

Hi, my zzr 250 hadn't been started for about 8 months, so it fired up nicely with the choke on but once the bike warmed up I couldn't get it to idle once the choke was off, i tried more air to the carby...

Could be one of two things
1. The carbs are gummed up. Modern fuel will break down after only a few months. The idle jets are quite small and will easily become blocked. Strip and clean the carbs.
2. The throttle cable is sticky. Less likely, but possible. Make sure it opens and snaps shut easily.
What do you mean when you say you tried more air?

have you checked the engine for vacume leaks or advanced timing or even sticking accelorator cable or linkage? these are always a good place to start for excess acceleration

Upgrading stock gauges

what is necessary to upgrade my stock '93 900ss/sp gauge setup to any of the newer clusters? Let's start with going to the 3 pod cluster from an '01 and head on up to the Mac Daddy from a 1098 (if its possible).well first off the rev counter is electric not cable like the carbied models also you will have to re-calibrate your speedo as the drive gear is different in both models, physical (larger axle in the 98+ models) aswell as reading. the only gauge you can use will be the oil temp,,,

Acceleration trouble

the harder you drive your car the quicker you wear out parts and wearing out of parts causes decrease in performance.so technically yes it does eventually "kill" it.
