Are you saying that when you let out on the lever, the bike doesn't move? Have you checked for a busted final drive belt? Has anyone "adjusted" the clutch? Give me a bit more information as this is extremely rare. The Evolution clutches are some of the best designed clutches in the world and usually do not give any problems for many, many miles.

SOURCE: 2010 sportster 48edition,rear cylinder missfires

No, Harley Sportster engine is the best engine Harley ever built in my opinion. If your engine is fuel injected, I'm afraid you'll have to take it to the dealer to find the problem. If it's carbureted, you may can fix it yourself if you can find the problem.

The engine needs three things to run, compression, fuel, and spark. Since it's a 2010 model, it's new and the compression should be good but just in case, a quick compression test should be done. Average compression should be about 120 pounds per square inch.

Next, you must have fuel. With a hydrocarbon reading of 1600, I'd suspect that your getting fuel to the cylinder. Matter of fact, it may be too rich. Check your intake manifold for vacuum leaks. If your bike is fuel injected, you'll have to take it back to the dealer for service. There is no way a carburetor can cause this, it's got to be a vacuum leak if it's too rich on one cylinder and correct on the other.

Finally, you need spark. I would guess this is your problem. If the fuel is not ignited, you get a "missfire". Try removing your spark plug wires and install another set of plugs in them. Leave your original spark plugs in the heads. Spin the engine with the starter and watch the spark. If the spark looks good, install the new set of plugs in your engine and try that. If not, you need to check the output of your coil.

Make sure fuel system is clean, trash in the jets makes it run rough, or start then quit.cleaner that you add to the fuel might remove some deposits but will not remove trash.start it in the dark look for fire (sparks) from the plug wires.replace wires that have too much resistance too.

I've seen nothing to lead me to believe that the 01 Sportster has anymore transmission problems than any other year model. Sportster transmissions are pretty tough. They do have some problems with the shifter pawls from time to time but they're easily accessed as they are behind the clutch in the primary rather than inside the transmission itself.

Good Luck

Most likely the clutch is not engaging. or the power transfer from the engine to the gearbox has been disrupted. The gear lever may have been pushed into the engine and so become detached from the gearbox.

Ac won't get cold anymore power to compressor but won't click on clutch won't engage possible problems are compressor or evaporator what do you think?

Has the Freon been checked with a gauge to see if there is enough Freon to allow the system to work. Low or no Freon will not allow the compressor to engage. The low pressure switch is most likely activated due to low freon, and will cause this condition.

Sounds like your final drive belt is broke. Put the transmission in low gear with the engine off and try pushing the bike. If you can push the bike with the transmission in gear and the belt is not broke, it could be the front belt pulley is stripped in splined area where it goes on the countershaft. to check that take the rear master cylinder loose and remove the front pulley cover. Put the transmission in low gear with the engine off and push the bike. If the front pulley turns and the countershaft does not, the pulley is stripped.

Good Luck
