Question about Harley Davidson FXDL Dyna Low Rider Motorcycles
Hmm, without being able to hear it, I'd guess it was something in the valve train. It could be a rocker bushing or it could be a tappet roller failing. You didn't say how many miles you had on the engine but I've noticed that tappet roller failure usually occurs around 30K miles. If you have a long screwdriver, start the engine and ride it for a while. When you get back, take this long screwdriver and use it like a doctor uses a stethescope. Stick the blade of the screwdriver to one of the tappet blocks and the handle to the bones behind your ear. Keep probing around and try to locate the noise.
