There is a key lock under the rear of the seat. If the ignition has never been changed the key should work.

My 2011 Triumph Sprint GT wouldn't attempt to start yesterday. There is no reaction to start button and lights don't come on. ABS light flashes slowly.Battery has been charged and ridden weekly.

Hi, Tony and the usual suspects are:
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Discharged battery, needs to be 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary.
4. Check the battery terminals for damage or corrosion check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
5. Tip over sensor needs a reset.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Faulty starter button.
8. Faulty kickstand or clutch pull in switch/sensor.
9. Starter control circuit, relay, or solenoid faulty.
10. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
11. Check for engine trouble codes.

Does the positive on the triumph sprint connect to the neg on the battery

Hi, Kjd1948 not that I am aware of and I don't have the year of your bike but wiring diagrams on a 2002 Sprint show 1 black wire coming from the negative terminal and 2 brown wires coming from the positive terminal any other wires added were after the fact and could be color coded wrong but you would be blowing fuses or melting wires or draining the battery if a true positive source wire was hooked up to the negative post on the battery, trace the wire in question and see where it goes. Sorry, you can't find the first and best tool you ever bought for your Triumph despair not, for a mere $0 you can download another one. When starting my 2001 triumph rs sprint it will, occasionally, not turn over. The lights & all electronics, including the gauge cluster, go dead as soon as I thumb the starter button. I have pulled...

Hi, Motoman774 if you suspect a faulty ground cable you can always add another generic cable of the same gauge and ground it to the frame or engine to validate your suspicions also before testing any electrical component in the Starting System it is "IMPERATIVE" that you have a fully charged battery of 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage, the battery is faulty and must be replaced. AGM type batteries fall into this scenario more so than lead acid batteries.
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Check the battery terminals for damage or corrosion check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter.
4. Bank angle sensor needs a reset or is faulty.
5. FOB battery low or dead.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Faulty starter button.
8. Faulty kickstand, clutch, neutral safety switch.
9. Security alarm needs a reset.
10. Starter relay, solenoid, starter have failed or circuit wiring faulty.
11. Starter armature or field coils have failed.
12. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
13. The electric starter is working but starter clutch has failed.
14. Check for engine trouble codes.
