Always check the oil level with the bike up right, and not leaning over on the side or kick stand.

Making a ticking sound when engine running.

Hi, Chris I would love to help you with your engine or chassis noise but I just loaned my brand new pair of listening ears to your local dealer's chief technician so he could take your bike for a test ride and give you his professional opinion and estimate about your noise and repair cost. Can i use millers 10w-60 oil in my triumph 955i daytona 1999 model

You CAN use any oil you wish, But I would suggest you use the grade that Triumph specify. In other word a 10W-40 or 10W-30 depending on the temperature that is normal where you are.

1999 Triumph Daytona 955i My bike overheats when stationary for 5+ mins. The temperature rises to the redline then piddles out of the expansion tank. The fan does not kick in with the bike running, but...

Hi, Chris_goslin and the usual suspects are:
1. Engine oil level and SAE weight are too low or not circulating.
2. Insufficient or blocked air flow over the engine.
3. Heavy combustion chamber carbon deposits.
4. Ignition timing retarded due to faulty MAP, CKP, or CMP sensor.
5. Carburetor jetted too lean.
6. Leaking intake or exhaust valve.
7. Water coolant old or low change every two years.
8. Water pump failure.
9. Radiator clogged, cap loose or malfunctioning.
10. Radiator fans not coming on.
11. Clutch slipping, brakes dragging, heavy load, towing a trailer etc.
12. Idling too long without moving.
13. For constant hot weather temperatures, mountain, or desert riding conditions consider adding an oil cooler and or cylinder head cooler.

Triumph Daytona 955i 2004 , Just had a 12,000 mile service but the bike as started to smoke / burn oil this did not happen before the service any idea what the course could be.

If the oil is too thin, that may be a cause or if the oil has cleaned the carbon deposites off the piston rings because it is a detergent oil, that may cause it.
Check the oil that was used and check the crank case breather is not blocked building up pressure in the cranl case with obvious consequences.
