When did you last change your air filter? there is also a separate filter assembly on the top of the housing. Are the air box/carb rubbers in good condition and sealing correctly?. Had the same problem on mine and it turned out to be the rubbers had came of the bottom of the carb

We had issues in the UK with issues like this, they would blacken and soot up the plugs and start to run on on cylinder, there was an internally vented carb rather than the externally vented carb to cure this.

Engine dies at full throttle, manual says to clean fuel filter and vent but no clue where they are.. only ran 4 tanks of fuel through it before this started all of a sudden, not gradual loss of power,...

Fuel filter is usually on the end of the "fuel finder" hose inside the tank. The tank vent is USUALLY a small hole in the tank cap.

OFTEN these problems are caused by the diaphram in the fuel pump going bad, or the check valves if it has sat with fuel in it. The diaphram is in the carbureator and works from the vacuum pulses . The check valves are tiny flappers. If you have the problem, a carb rebuild kit is the fix.

Jet ski bogs out under load.

I had a similar experience with that model. It turned out to be a mouse nest in the water box. However , in this case i think you just have some moisture corrosion on the rubber tipped needle in the carburetor. Clean that part of the carb and do not alter the tiny spring in any way. If that does not work open the electronics box, if it is wet , dry it out , and seal it back up. Those are the three things I know of that will cause your problem. Start with the carb.

Nearside carb problem on kawasaki zzr1100

Clean your carbs! Your floats might be sticking open a bit. Plus, all Kawasakis have a simple spring-actuated check valve in the fuel valve. This way, you can disconnect the fuel line without having to block the flow. Fuel could be leaking through the check valve. Your problem most liklely identifies dirty gasoline. Clean out your tank, your carbs, and change your fuel filter.

Kawasaki ZZR400 Won''t start, Looses power in top Gear

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, would suggest:
  • a thorough cleanup job on the carbs;
  • inspect, clean the rubber couplings from carbs to intake manifold;
  • inspect tighten coupling clamps;
  • ensure no vacuum leak when re-assembling;
  • inspect, check, ensure air intake box seating to the carbs. Very important, there should be no air leak. All air must pass through the cleaner/filter;
  • check/clean tank, including fuel valve control and built-in fuel filter;
  • use PRIM instead of ON on the fuel valve control.
And the "carborator sleeves" will only slide up when there is sufficient vacuum (engine running) and the throttle is turned.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.
