Question about 2008 Ducati Hypermotard S

3 Answers

OK where to start. My 1100S has 1400 mikes on it and it drove home fine when I got it. about 200 mike trip. The next day I noticed it was stalling for a half second, lost power, then recover. Several times. The next day the ride is sweet but the gas light came on and I made it stop and go to the gas station. Now it starts but put in gear stalls. Starts but hiccups badly. the gauge lights flash on and off. Maybe ignition problem?

Thanks I will give it a try. When I hit the top of the handle bars the light go out and the lamps reset. I was hoping it was not a cpu problem. I did check the wiring and battery... maybe in the ignition? Thanks broman.

It could be that the gas in her was old. Siphon out any remaining old gas and replace it with new. Then get a can of starter fluid and a helper. Start her up and squirt some starter fluid into the air intake for a minute or so until it clears up. J.

The ignition may be alright. I feel it is the ignition switch that may hold the key to your problem. Check its wiring. I thing something may be loose there.

No, the problem is in the general electric wiring - you have a bad (or loose contact) somewhere on the main wire from the battery. Check the ignition switch first - jump it to be sure. Then verify the plots on the battery and finally check the entire wiring loom for frayed wires.

A failing ECM wouldn't cause the gas light to light up - check all electrical contacts, you have a bad one.

Put a wire between the contacts of the switch - short them. If the wire is securely there then the switch is practically nonexistent. If the problem remains with that wire there then you will know that it's not the switch.

You need to have the fault codes read with a OBD2 code reader or scanner, that is how you find out what system in the computer controlled engine is acting up.
