The bike has a bent shift fork or two. This is a major repair on the bike. The engine comes out of the frame, gets flipped upside down then the bottom casing comes off. This allows access to the gears and shift drum / shift forks. I do not recommend this repair for a novice mechanic. Call a Yamaha dealer to confirm my diagnosis and to get an idea of the repair cost. The cost will probably be $1000 to $1500. Bummer. Please rate my answer.

I have a 06 r1 and mine is hitting extremely hard from neutral to first I adjusted the clutch on the lever which helped a little but it's still doing it and it's hard enough to concern me any ideas

The problem of slamming into 1st gear is usually one of two things (or both at the same time ). First up is the engine revs are too high when putting into gear > put it in gear only at an idle. Second is clutch drag. The heaver the oil the more drag can occur. Go from 40w oil to 30w oil in the gearbox. If the bike has ever had oil with "special" additives or has had synthetic lubricants in the gearbox, that is probably the proximate cause for the problem. Some additives and synthetic lubricants can cause the cork on the friction plates to swell. The swelling lessens the space between the clutch plates and that causes the center shaft turning the gears to spin instead of being static in neutral. This means the dogs on the slider gear mesh into 1st gear while the gear is turning at a rapid pace = slamming into gear. The only fix for swollen friction plates is to install new friction plates and only use standard motor oil in the gearbox. Note that some synthetics are okay to use. Which ones I don't know. Consult a dealer as to recommended oil/lubricants that should be used in your bike.

I have a 2002 yzf r6 when i get up to 50mph in 2nd gear it slips into newtural

Sounds like your second gear planet gear is not fully engageing, it could be worn down. also the shift fork could be out of adjustment. If you hold it in second, will it stay?
