TO ELMINATE THE STARTER, FOLLOW THE WIRE FROM THE + SIDE OF THE BATTERY TO THE STARTER REAY IE SOLENOIDE, YOU WILL SEE 2 X NUTS HOLDING THE CABLES TO IT, THE SOLENODE IS A MAGNETIC SWITCH WHEN YOU PRESS THE STARTER BUTTON THE SWITCH JOINS TOGETHER THE 2 WIRES, TO TEST THE STARTER MANUALY YOU WILL NEED TO JOIN THESE 2 WIRES TOGETHER,EITHER BY REMOVING 1 WIRE AND JOINING IT TO THE OUTHER. Car won't start? You hit the key. Nothing. Try this on ANY car.

Your car runs fine. Then 1 day you go out to start it and get no response. It won't crank. It won't even try to start. Nothing. What the heck is going on?
Try starting it in neutral. This trick can work on any make or model of any age.
There is a safety switch that will not allow the starter to engage in any gears, except park and neutral. Sometimes the shift lever indicates park, but the actual linkage is just barely in park. Enough to park the car and get your keys out, but not enough to trip that neutral safety switch.
You can, also, try firmly shifting in and out of park a few times. This may realign the indicator and the linkage. Good luck

My 2007 gmc just stopped running one day so i replaced the starter and im stillvhaving the same problem. it wont even turn over

Hi,
Try moving the shift lever in and out of gear and back to Park then try it. Have you tried starting the truck with the shifter in Neutral? If it turns over and starts, I would check the Neutral Safety Start Switch and it's connection down under on the side of the transmission? If you are experiencing lights and dashboard indicators coming on when inserting the key in the ignition but zero response from the solenoid on the starter or the starter turning over when turning the key switch to the start position, I would definitely check the Neutral Safety Start Switch. This switch is the one that allows you to start the vehicle by making sure you are in Park or Neutral. It's in a location on the side of the transmission where salt, sand and corrosive road debris can get trapped that eats away at wires and connections.

If nothing happens when you turn the key to start ,this is a no crank no start condition . Need to be clear on this so we know what to have check . If nothing happens when turning the key to start position ,try moving gear selector to neutral - park neutral safety switch . If when you turn the key to start an the engine does spin but doesn't start an run ,check for spark ,fuel pressure . see what's missing .

88 s10 2.8 5 speed have power to lights, blower, radio, but wont turn over when turning key no clicking nothing wont even start or turn over by crossing solenoid

Since you have power to your accessories, here are a few more things to consider:
1: Automatic transmission not in park or the neutral safety switch is faulty
2: On manual transmissions clutch pedal not depressed or or clutch start switch failure
3: Broken or loose wires in the starting circuit. Inspect all wires and connectors at the battery, starter solenoid, and ignition switch
4: Starter motor pinion jammed in flywheel ring gear. Manual transmission. place transmission in gear and rock the vehicle to manually turn the engine. Remove starter and inspect pinion and flywheel

I turn my key and it does nothing almost like a dead battery

Try running the gear selector through all the gears then back into park. If the same thing happens then set your emergency brake, place the gear selector in neutral, while pressing on the brake pedal try to start it. If this works you may have to replace the switch that senses when it is in park. Good Luck
